Thompson Boxing Signs Super Bantam Prospect Zarate

Super bantamweight prospect Isaac “Dynamite” Zarate has been sign to a 5-year contract by California’s Thompson Boxing Promotions.

Zarate is currently the NABF Junior super bantamweight champion.

Born in San Pedro, California, Zarate holds a 9-1-1 record, 1 KO, and has been a professional boxer since 2011. He is 23 years old.

The left handed fighter now joins stable mate Daniel Roman as part of the group of fighters trained and managed by Eddie Gonzalez that have signed with Thompson Boxing Promotions, headed by Ken Thompson.

“I am very happy to be associated with Thompson Boxing Promotions. I feel that they have the means to get me to a world title opportunity, as they have done with other excellent fighters”, said Zarate.

“I know that I will have to continue to work hard towards that goal, but this commitment will now be an added motivation for my career”, he added.

Zarate’s debut in professional boxing came under the banner of Thompson Boxing Promotions. Along with Daniel Roman, he has been an active part of the Young Blood Boxing Series promoted by Thompson at the Doubletree Hotel in Ontario, California.

This venue will again be the site for Zarate’s next fight, scheduled for February 20 against Pedro Melo (10-7-2), hailing from Tijuana, Baja California, Mexico. It will be a non-title fight.

“It is great to continue to work with Ken Thompson”, said Eddie Gonzalez. “Our association with him has been very positive. In a few words, he has always delivered on his promises. Zarate fought four times last year and we hope to keep him just as busy in 2015.

“We are in no rush, but we are ready to continue forward. Zarate has faced good opposition since his amateur years. Professionally, only 1 of his 11 opponents had a loosing record. That speaks in the confidence we have on his ability,” Gonzalez concluded.
