WBC welterweight champion Junior Witter has hit back at rival title holder Ricky Hatton on talkSPORT, the UK’s only national commercial speech radio station, saying he thinks Hatton is a coward for refusing to meet him in the ring, depriving the public of the fight they desperately want to see.
Talking to Alan Brazil and Graham Beecroft of the Breakfast Show, Witter said: “He’s a coward isn’t he? Realistically, if he wants to say I’m not on his radar, why has he had a press conference talking about me?
“It is the biggest fight in British boxing history at the minute. It’s not a fight that I am desperate to have in respect it’s the only fight in the world for me, because it isn’t. There are many other fights out there, many other champions who will give a good fight and bring me lots of money. He is just one route among many. But it’s the one that the British public want to see. They’ve wanted to see it for many years so therefore I want to see it to give the public what they want. I’m not saying he isn’t a good fighter because he obviously is. But realistically, he’s one of many.”
