One hour before the end of the period to negotiate the mandatory Heavyweight fight between the WBA Super and unified WBA, WBO, IBF, champion Wladimir Klitschko and the official challenger Tyson Fury, the two parties reached an agreement thus the Purse Bid was not necessary.
Both parties agreed to fight on October 24, 2015 in Germany, and as the WBA Rules state, the Purse disbursement will be 80 % for the champion and 20 % for the challenger.
Tom Loeffler of K2 Promotion, representing Klitschko and Adam Harris, of Henessy Sports, on behalf of Fury, announced negotiation details, thus the Purse Bid was cancelled.
The Purse Bid was scheduled to take place at the World Boxing Association offices in Panama City, and was chaired by Gilberto Jesús Mendoza, Vice President of the WBA, and president of the Championships Committee, accompanied by Miguel Prado, Ratings Committee Chairman.
Besides K2 Promotions and Henessy Sports, there were representatives of Matchroom, Warren and Hrunov Promotions.
Klitschko (64-3, 53 KO) owns the black and gold belt since July 2011, and is planning the eighth defense of the WBA, IBF, and WBO titles. While his opponent, Fury (24-0, 18 KO), of England, is making his first title attempt.
