Championship boxing returns to the famous old venue of Leeds Town Hall on Friday 9 February as favourite local boy Carl ‘Ingemar’ Johanneson puts his British Super Featherweight title on the line.
Johanneson 25-2 (18) faces mandatory challenger Ricky Burns, the slick Scottish 23 year old.
The fight is sure to be a classic confrontation of fighter against boxer and bull against matador as these two talented fighters go head to head.
Johanneson, 28, and Burns have between them lost only three of their forty career fights and a thriller is in store for Johanneson’s second title defence and coincidentally Burns’ second attempt at winning one.
Burns, lost on points to fellow Scot Alex Arthur over 12 rounds when attempting to wrest the European, British and Commonwealth Super Featherweight titles from his talented countryman.
The chief support bout on a high class undercard sees the unbeaten John ‘Fireball’ Fewkes 13-0 (2) take on the menacing Craig Watson, 7-0 (2), the highly promising Manchester based 23 year old.
Watson steps up to eight rounds for this intriguing contest on an action packed evening that sees the second fight of Jason Booth, the former IBO Super Flyweight title holder following his victorious return in November 2006.
