British Boxing: Khan vs. Lawton Bout Confirmed

Amir Khan puts his unbeaten record on the line when he steps up against Scott Lawton at the Nottingham Arena in six weeks time.

Khan will be making his second appearance at 12 rounds on October 6 and just three months after his first attempt resulted in the eighth round stoppage of Willie Limond.

Much has been made of Khan, 20, suffering his first knock-down before he stopped 28 year old Limond but the young fighter with the otherwise unblemished 13 bout career is sure to benefit from the experience.

“Scott is a worthy opponent, but I’m confident of beating him,” Khan said to frankwarren.tv. “I got caught in my last fight but I showed I can get up and fight back.

“I learned a lot from the Limond fight,” Khan continued, “and you are going to see plenty of improvements when I face Lawton.”

Promoter Frank Warren said: “Scott gave Jon Thaxton plenty of problems when he fought for the British title, and he’ll come to fight on October 6.

“Amir needs to make improvements after the Limond fight, but he knows that and I’m sure he will be stronger for the experience.”

Lawton added: “This is my big chance and I plan to take it. Obviously Amir is a great fighter, but Limond showed he has weaknesses and I’m the man to exploit them.”
