European Boxing News: Brahmer Guns Down Veit in Germany

Last night at Stadhalle in Rostock, Germany, Jurgen Brahmer did everything he did wrong the first time around, right this time, and knocked out fellow German Mario Veit in the fourth to retain the WBO Intercontinental super middle title.

Brahmer was on top from the start, working behind his southpaw jab. Veit was wobbled by that jab in the first and Jurgen seemed to be on his way to neutral corner when he discovered that his opponent was still standing.

A hard right from Veit in the third shook Brahmer and cut him by the right eye in what was Veit´s only success. Brahmer really went to work after that and shook Veit at the end of the round.

Jurgen then jumped on Mario as the fourth round started and floored his opponent. Veit survived but was then knocked out by a combination at 0.47 of the round. He didn´t seem badly hurt, but sort of gave up.

Russian cruiser Aleksander Alekseev defended the WBO Intercontinental title with ease, stopping outgunned American Darrin
Humphrey in the fourth. Humphrey was down in the second and third. Alekseev, a southpaw, is already world class but may need a little more seasoning before being moved for a world title.

Alesia Graf retained her GBU superfly title with a unanimous decision over Zulina Munoz from Mexico. It was hard fought all the way and quite close, although the judges had Graf well ahead on points.

Polish light heavy Aleksy Kuziemski stopped Argentinian Julio Cesar Domniguez in the 12th and final round to win the vacant WBO Intercontinental title. Kuziemski was well in control for most of the fight. He had Dariusz “Tiger” Michalczewski rooting for him while Dominguez had no other than former cruiser champ Marcelo Dominguez in his corner.
