Boxing Prospect Miguel Espino Wins in Bakersfield

ByBoxing Press 22/09/2007

WBC CABOFE middleweight champion Miguel Espino, 17-2-1 (6), defended his title and extended his winning steak to eight in a row with a dominating performance by way of fifth round TKO over Ray Ortega, 12-6-3 (7), last night at the Doubletree Hotel in Bakersfield. CA.

Countering the bulldozing style of Ortega, Espino landed accurate punches that battered the body of his opponent, dominating the bout with a body attack that the fans will remember for years to come.

Ortega, who came out guns blazing every round, slowed down as the fight wore on. Showing no signs of fatigue, Espino dropped Ortega with a temple shot early in the fifth round and continued to expose the open holes that Ortega was leaving open.

After barrages of punches were taking its toll on Ortega, referee Marcos Rosales stopped the fight with little time left in the round. Look for Espino to climb up the WBC rankings with the victory.

The bout was brought to you by Cota Boxing Promotions in association with Sigue Corp.
