Calzaghe Hottest Ticket Seller In World On Tenth Anniversary Of Title Reign

ByBoxing Press 13/10/2007

Just a day past his tenth anniversary of winning the WBO Super Middleweight title against Chris Eubank in 1997, the world’s longest reigning world champion is also the biggest ticket seller on the planet.

Fresh off a three round dismantling of America’s Peter Manfredo, masterful southpaw Calzaghe is facing the biggest challenge of his highly decorated career in the form of the lethal “Dane of Destruction”, WBA/WBC Champion Mikkel Kessler at the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff, Wales on Saturday, 3rd November, 2007.

While Calzaghe generated over 30,000 tickets for the Manfredo fight, the challenge posed by Kessler has ignited the boxing public’s imagination to the point where the Welsh Wizard’s promoter Sports Network are expecting over 60,000 fans at the Cardiff venue, making this 168 lb showdown a once in a generation event that will live long in the minds of those lucky enough to see the historic fight card in person.

A packed undercard features WBO Cruiserweight Champion Enzo Maccarinelli and Britain’s top heavyweight, Matt Skelton among many others and will serve as a fine gateway into the thrilling main event.

Tickets for Calzaghe-Kessler, priced between £40 and £500, are available from See Tickets: 0870 060 3794, Ticketmaster: 0870 602 1122 and Ticketline: 08700 667799.
