Tecate Sponsors Solo Boxeo Tonight From Feather Falls Casino

ByBoxing Press 19/10/2007

Mexican beer giant Tecate sponsors another night of great boxing on tonight’s Telefutura’s “Solo Boxeo” program from the Feather Falls Casino in Oroville, CA, starting at 8PM, 7PM Central.

The main event features what is sure to be another amazing fight between battle hardened super lightweights Rogelio Castaneda, 23-13-3 (8), and Ubaldo Hernandez, 22-18-2 (10), scheduled for ten rounds.

On April 12, 2007, Hernandez beat Castaneda by decision, at the Arco Arena in Sacramento, California. Sacramento based Castaneda, a former IBA Super Lightweight Champion, has his mind set on winning as this would be his 4th straight loss if he fails.

The 31 year old Californian has faced superb competition during his career, having shared the ring with Jose Armando Santa Cruz, Francisco Bojado, Demetrius Hopkins, Oscar Diaz, Lamar Murphy and Ernesto Zepeda among others.

Hernandez, a very experienced boxer, has an amazing resume, with fights under his belt against Edgar Barcenas, Hector Velazquez, Carlos Navarro, Juan Diaz, Ebo Elder, Jauquin Gallardo, Vivian Harris, Miguel Cotto, Francisco Lorenzo, Rolando Reyes, Demetrius Hopkins, Ivan Hernandez and Jose Miguel Cotto.

The 30 year old hard as nails veteran is ready to show that it was not by coincidence that he beat Castaneda in April.

In the co-main, event former WBO NABO Bantamweight Champion Roger “Speedy” Gonzalez, 26-1 (18), continues his comeback following a two and a half year layoff. The Fontana, California based Gonzalez returned to the ring with 4th round KO victory against Alan Visayas in Maywood, CA on April 13, 2007.

In the last fight before his hiatus, Gonzalez defeated Oscar Andrade, on November 19, 2004, winning a majority decision. His only loss came at the hands of former World Champion Jhonny Gonzalez in 2004.

Facing “Speedy” tonight will be iron chinned Mexican stalwart, Adolfo “El Terror” Landeros, 18-7-1 (9), who is coming off a stunning upset of prospect Israel Gutierrez in Mexicali this past June.

Landeros has shared the ring with world class fighters Jhonny Gonzalez and Ricardo Castillo but neither of these big punching super bantams could put a dent in the Mexican warrior over the course of 32 rounds.
