Boxing Result: Guinn Loses To Hawkins In Canada

ByRichard Eberline 29/12/2007

There wasn’t a great deal of action last night across the globe but fans in attendance at the River Rock Casino in the Canadian city of Richmond saw what could have been the final nail driven into the career coffin of heavyweight Dominic Guinn.

The 32 year old Texan was soundly defeated by journeyman spoiler Robert Hawkins over 10 rounds via scores of 100-90, 99-91 and 97-93.

Guinn, 28-6-1 (19), had won his first 24 bouts until it all began to fall apart with a 2004 loss to Monte Barrett and has gone 3-5-1 since that time. 37 year old Hawkins, 23-10 (7), wins for just the second time in his last eight appearances and notches the biggest victory of his 13 year career.

Guinn is running out of chances to regain his pre-2004 standing in the division and with this loss to Hawkins, retirement could be the best option at this point.
