Risum Boxing: Onyango, Kimori Join Nasir In KO Boxing World Series

ByBoxing Press 4/15/2008

While it has been official for a while that Fawaz Nasir will participate in the KO Boxing World Series in Macao, China on May 10, Risum Boxing can now announce that two more of the Danish-based company’s fighters will join the super middleweight contender in the tournament.

Kenyans Samson “The Hammer” Onyango, 13-2 (10), and “Jesse” James Kimori, 7-0 (5), are also set for the event at the luxurious Venetian Casino and Resort next month.

Kimori will, as it looks at the moment, fight fellow unbeaten Czech Bronislav Kubin, 3-0 (1), in what looks like a winnable assignment at light middleweight, and Onyango could be in with unbeaten American Maurice Louishome, 6-0 (4), although this is not 100 % confirmed. Opponent for Nasir is also still to be solidified, but should be in place soon.

Like Nasir, Onyango is a super middleweight, and therefore it is possible that the two Risum Boxing fighters could face each other soon. If both win in Macao, they will fight semi finals in July in Croatia against quarter-final winners from a KO World Series event to be held in New Zeland on May 2, and, if both win those, it will be Nasir vs. Onyango in the final in Las Vegas in September.

A dream scenario, of course, but manager Henrik Risum is aiming high: “Anything can happen in boxing as we all know, and of course our goal is that all three goes through to the semi finals, and I believe it is a realistic goal. However, whatever happens, this is truly a magnificent opportunity for them all to make a shortcut to even bigger things in the future, and I am confident everybody will fight their hearts out to be successful”.

The eventual winners of the KO Boxing World Series finals in Las Vegas are then supposed to fight either a 12 round title fight or a 10 round bout against a “Top 10 Contender” on a major event in Prague, Czech Republic in late October, which could, depending on the opponent, lead to a “world title fight”.

But first things first, and the adventure starts on May 10 for Nasir, Onyango and Kimori!

  • Callum Smith injured 4/7/2026
Callum Smith has pulled out of the David Morrell fight which was due to take place in his hometown Liverpool on 18rh April. I was looking forward to this fight. Callum has a rib injury during training camp. This is a big blow for him as he has not fought since he had that epic victory over Joshua Buatsi. Ben Whittaker will be headlining the event now. talksp […]
  • Errol Spence v Tim Tszyu - June 2026 4/7/2026
The clash between Spence and Tszyu had reportedly been lined up to take place in June. Tim did suffer a cut in his bout against Nurja, which could potentially delay proceedings. I am concerned that Spence has not fought for years now and having no warm up. This may show that he has not much left and cashing in. Tszyu secured a one-sided unanimous decision wi […]

Negotiations for a WBO and WBA welterweight unification clash between Devin Haney and Rolly Romero have reportedly collapsed. Organisers had planned for the fight to headline a PBC event on May 30, live on Amazon Prime PPV. Haney has turned down the fight. The reason for Haney pulling the plug is that he wasn’t offered a guaranteed purse. PBC instead propose […]
  • Rene Santiago to defend his WBA and WBO junior flyweight belts in Japan 4/2/2026
Rene’s not talked about much. Even here in Puerto Rico he’s not as well known as Xander Zayas or even Oscar Collazo. But he’s got 2 of the 4 belts in the division, and tonight he defends them against Masataka Taniguchi in Japan. Gotta hand it to him. This is his 3rd straight fight in Japan. I admire any fighter who’s willing to go halfway around the world to […]
