Once again, former world champion Wayne McCullough gave it his all in a world championship fight but came up short, this time against WBC super bantamweight champion Oscar Larios. They went at each other virtually non-stop for the majority of the twelve-round fight, but in the end, Larios proved to be just too much for the Irishman McCullough, posting a decisive win an all scorecards. Larios’ victory now paves the way for him to fight a WBC/WBO unification fight later this year with Joan Guzman.
Earlier, 2004 Olympian Andre Ward survived the obstacle of Kenny Kost. Ward managed to pick up his second professional victory with a convincing six-round decision all the way across the cards.
