Boxing Results from Around the Globe

ByDaxx Kahn 24/05/2008

It was a busy night around the world as fighters battled it out for hometown recognition along with regional titles in hopes of taking that next step into global spotlight. Some winning and accomplishing their goal, others sent back to the drawing board. Without any further delay lets see who came out on top as we take a hop around the map.

Mt Druitt Workers Club, Mt Druitt New South Wales Australia

Dominic “The Dominator” Vea 7-1 (5) defended his OPBF Cruiserweight Title when he faced Daniel “The Doberman” Ammann 13-2-1 (3). The challenger Ammann who entered the ring on an 11 bout win streak was looking for one more minor title win for his collection that already consist of The New South Wales Cruiserweight and Australian belts he had claimed in the past.

Champion Vea was just a bit more determined though wanting to not only make the second defense of his OPBF crown but avenge his only loss, a majority decision when he challenged Ammann in November of 2006 for the Australian Cruiserweight belt. In the end Vea left with not only his belt intact but the score between the two even up as the judges saw it his way via unanimous decision.

On the undercard cruiserweight action ensued as Josh “The Chainsaw” Clenshaw 24-13 (13) won an 8 round points decision over Joel Casey 3-3 (2)

Broncos League Club, Red Hill (Brisbane) Queensland Australia

Matthew Paulley 15-5-5 (7) put his Australian Welterweight Title on the line against veteran Mick Shaw 25-8-3 (8) in what was promising to be an exciting ten-round affair if not for the karma that seems to follow Paulley throughout his career thus far. As each man tried to get the upper hand and action up close started to heat up Paulley fell victim to accidental head butts, once in round four and again in round six. The champion who has had five prior bouts stopped due to accidental head butts was deemed unable to continue before the end of round number six due to the severity of the cuts causing the bout to be declared a draw.

On the undercard in heavyweight action Nathan Briggs 18-5 (15) scored a unanimous decision victory over Michael “Iron Rhino” Kirby 3-2-1 (1) in an eight-round attraction.

Kroonstad Military Base, Kroonstad Free State, South Africa

South Africa was the host of an all championship card as five minor titles were on the line. William “Dynamite” Gare 24-14 (5) defended his WBF Super Middleweight Title for the first time by out pointing Australian Super Middleweight Champion Les Sherrington 19-5 (12) over 12 rounds.

In a bout for the vacant South African Super Middleweight Championship Kgotso Motau 14-1 (12) defeated Tshepang Mohale 5-2 (5) seventh round TKO.

Coliseo Antonio R. Barcelo, Toa Baja Puerto Rico

Former WBA Flyweight Champion Eric “Little Hands of Steele” Morel 38-2 (20) continued his comeback to the ring that started in 2008 after a three year absence when he defeated Jose Garcia Bernal 27-12-1 (18) via third round TKO.

In light heavyweight action former WBA Super Middleweight Title holder Manny Siaca 21-6 (18) made the second bout of his return to the ring a successful one by defeating David Whittom 10-7-1 (6) in a ten-round affair.

On the undercard in lightweight bouts Orlando Felix 10-0 (3) defeated Carlos Claudio 8-3-1 (2) by UD in a four-round battle and Marcos Jimenez 13-1 (8) stopped Baudel Cardenas 17-14-2 (6) at 2:59 of the fourth round.

  • Kugan Should Retire! 16/09/2026
He’s Eddies mate and I know they’ve been doing interviews since before either of them really had a profile…but Eddie still gives Kugan wayyyyy too much latitude in the interviews that Hearn needs to resonate with the public. Kugan constantly cuts across him, with some meaningless aside, or to tries to get a rubbish ‘gotcha’, for no reason. There are better i […]

  • Ain't we all want to see Jai v David? 14/09/2026
Don’t we? Let’s cut all of the bullshit here. This is the only fight worth a $100 PPV buy, it’s Jai Opetai v David Benavidez. Canelo is in the background now. He is not worthy of paying any attention to at this point and time. Plus, since Crawford is retired, he is not worth mentioning either, even if he comes back to fight Boots… There is no other fight on […]
  • Where does Conor Benn go from here? 14/09/2026
Conor Benn has been exposed as a no better than a Misfit fighter. He has just been destroyed in 2 rounds for an undeserved Welterweight world title. His best win is against a faded if not shot Eubank Jnr at middleweight. So where does Conor go from here? Conor has already managed to secure a multimillion contract from Zuffa which may be in jeopardy. As a res […]

  • Ran my first half marathon last week Sunday 11/09/2026
I did it. Ran a half marathon in training last week Sunday. I did it in 3 hours, but I did it… lolol… I could do it in 2 and 1/2 hours though. For the first time, I walked a good bit of the distance… And the shoes I had on was not good for long distances. So, I started to get pains in my ankles, Achilles and ACL… But with the right shoes I can def do that in […]

  • Hrgovic's career path 05/09/2026
Hrgovic has finally made it to the mountain as IBF world champion. He has himself to blame for not training hard enough or working on his conditioning, and his management team for failing to get him a title shot sooner. I get it. He wasn’t born with boxing’s golden ticket — he isn’t American or British. His only loss came on a night when a dirty Dubois had h […]
