Crown Boxing announces world championship boxing on Friday, August 18, 2008 as GBU Lightweight Champion of the World, “Amazing” Layla McCarter defends her title against Loli “Sugar” Munoz of Barcelona, Spain at the Orleans Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, NV.
The top Women’s lightweight in the world, McCarter has been on a tremendous run over the last 14 months, winning seven consecutive contests including a split decision victory over Canada’s Jelena Mrdjenovich to capture the WBA title in March.
The 29 year old veteran from Las Vegas will place her GBU Lightweight title at risk against one of the top challengers from Europe, the steel-chinned Spaniard from the mean streets of Barcelona, Loli Munoz, over a scheduled ten rounds.
Rounding out the card are cruiserweight Patrick Liles, an undefeated southpaw knockout specialist from Kentucky, who faces Avian Guillory over six rounds and featherweight Johnny “The Cobra” Taunton, of Anchorage, Alaska, who goes against Gamalier Rodriguez in a six rounder.
