Risum Boxing: “Jesse” James Kimori KO’s Former Kenyan Champ James Kitsai In Nairobi

“Jesse” James Kimori came out all guns blazing on Saturday afternoon at Charter Hall in Nairobi, Kenya, and impressively became the first man to stop former Kenyan champion James Kitasi.

Risum Boxing’s unbeaten welterweight was expected to get a tough test from Kitasi, but the bout turned out to be Kimori’s best and most decisive performance to date.

Already in the second round Kimori floored Kitasi twice with hard body-punches, but the wily veteran just made it though the round.

In the third of the scheduled six, a devastating hook to the head send Kitasi down again, and the referee stopped the onslaught.

Kimori thereby improved his record to 10-0 (6) while Kitasi drops to 9-10-1 (1).

“I honestly didn’t expect James to be able to stop Kitasi inside the distance, so I am very impressed and delighted with this result,” said manager Henrik Risum after the bout.

“Nobody has beaten Kitasi like this before. The only negative, if you can get anything negative out of a dominating victory, is that it is not going to be easier to get any of the other domestic welterweights to fight James. These guys were already very hesitant t o step in the ring with him”,

The fight was promoted by Sparks Pro-Boxing Promotions in cooperation with Risum Boxing.

Kimori will fight again in September or October, before hopefully challenging for the Kenyan national title before the end of the year if everything pans out as expected.
