Naoya Inoue Outpoints Junto Nakatani in Tokyo Super Fight, Retains Undisputed Crown
Naoya Inoue had to work for it this time — but he got it done. In front of a packed Tokyo Dome, Inoue stayed perfect, handing Junto Nakatani his first loss in a high-level chess match that went the distance.
Elsewhere on the card, Takuma Inoue dominated Kazuto Ioka, while several of the title fights ended razor close. No knockouts stealing the show here — this was a night for scorecards and tight margins.
Main Event
Naoya Inoue (33-0-0) vs Junto Nakatani (32-1-0)
Inoue edged it. Over 12 rounds, he did just enough to keep Nakatani chasing, taking a unanimous decision with scores of 115-113, 116-112 and 116-112.
Nakatani had his moments — no doubt about that — but Inoue’s control and timing made the difference. Not a blowout, but a clear win. When it got close, Inoue seemed to find the right shots at the right time.
No knockdown, no late drama — just two top fighters going at it and Inoue showing he’s still the man at the top.
Co-Main / Key Fights
Takuma Inoue (22-2-0) vs Kazuto Ioka (32-5-1)
This one wasn’t close. Takuma Inoue ran away with it over 12 rounds, picking up a wide unanimous decision — 119-107, 120-106 and 118-108.
Ioka never really got going. Inoue controlled the pace from early and never let it slip. A proper statement win at this level.
Other Title Fights
Kosuke Tomioka (11-4-1) vs Shogo Tanaka (5-0-1)
No separating them. The judges couldn’t split it either, with a split draw over 10 rounds (97-93, 94-96, 95-95). Close rounds all the way through — could’ve gone either way.
Sora Tanaka (5-1-0) vs Jin Sasaki (21-2-1)
Jin Sasaki took it on a split decision after 10 rounds (97-93, 96-94, 94-96). Tight fight, but Sasaki just about nicked it on two cards. Bit of an upset if you fancied the unbeaten record to hold.
Deok No Yun (10-3-1) vs Yuito Moriwaki (2-0-1)
Another split decision, another close one. Moriwaki gets the nod over 10 rounds (96-94, 96-94, 93-97). Not much in it — these judges were earning their money tonight.
Non-Title Undercard
Toshiki Shimomachi (23-1-3) outpointed Reiya Abe (28-5-2) by majority decision over 10 rounds (96-94, 96-94, 95-95).
Yoshiki Takei (12-1-0) edged DeKang Wang (9-2-0) by majority decision after 8 rounds (77-75, 77-75, 76-76).
Closing
Inoue stays on top, but this wasn’t a walkover — Nakatani gave him something to think about. Still, when it mattered, Inoue handled business.
Plenty of close fights underneath as well. Judges were busy, and margins were tight across the board. One of those cards where every round seemed to matter.
