    Bradford’s Tasif Khan is just over a week away from the biggest fight of his career to date, when he faces two time Commonwealth title challenger, Ghana’s Isaac Quaye, for the WBF International Super Flyweight Championship, on the Stephen Vaughan promoted “Legend” event, at the Aintree Equestrian Centre on Saturday 12th September, which is headlined by Roy Jones Jr’s first ever UK fight, against Tony Moran.

    A permanent memorial to pioneering black boxer Bill Richmond (1763-1829) was unveiled by Earl George Percy at the Tom Cribb pub, in Panton Street, London on Wednesday 26 August 2015 at 2.30pm.

    A plaque consisting of a portrait of Richmond and a summary of his amazing life and career now adorns the wall of the historic pub owned by Shepherd Neame brewery in recognition of Richmond’s position in history as the first black sportsman to achieve international fame and significance.   • McDonnell, Kameda Discuss Plans For Their Texas Rematch

    After a razor-thin decision in their first fight, top bantamweights Jamie McDonnell (26-2-1, 12 KOs) and Tomoki “El Mexicanito” Kameda (31-1, 19 KOs) will square-off again on the Sunday, September 6 edition of Premier Boxing Champions (PBC) on CBS live from the American Bank Center in Corpus Christi, Texas.

    The 12-round bantamweight showdown will kick-off the telecast beginning at 4 p.m. ET/1 p.m. PT and will be headlined by a super middleweight battle between Anthony “The Dog” Dirrell (27-1-1, 22 KOs) and Marco Antonio “El Veneno” Rubio (59-7-1, 51 KOs).

  • Fresno Prospect Marcos Hernandez Wins In Costa Mesa

    Last night during the Fight Club OC card at the “The Hangar” in Costa Mesa, California, super-welterweight prospect, Marcos “The Madman” Hernandez (7-0, 2 KOs) remained undefeated, winning an six round unanimous decision against Luis Alfredo Lugo (14-23-1, 5 KOs).

    In the opening round, Hernandez wobbled Lugo with a powerful left hook, almost stopping the veteran of over thirty fights. Lugo, surviving most of the fight, was hurt again in the sixth, but managed to finish the fight. (more…)

    Boxing star Andy Lee has been overwhelmed at the number of Irish fans set to travel to Manchester for his world title clash with Billy Joe Saunders.

    The WBO middleweight champion defends his title against the unbeaten Londoner in an Ireland versus England showdown and has been taken aback at the number of fans snapping up tickets for the October 10 Manchester Arena clash.

    Masses of Irish supporters disappointed at not seeing their hero fight on home soil, following the rescheduling of his Limerick bout due to illness, are refusing to be deterred and are buying up tickets in massive numbers to make the trip across the Irish Sea. (more…)
