  • Irish Hit Squad On The Ground In Bulgaria For Elite Tourney

    Ireland’s seven-strong squad arrived in Samokov, Bulgaria earlier this week ahead of the opening bell for the 37-nation European Men’s Elite Championships.

    Boxing begins at 5pm, Irish time, on Friday.

    The 41st edition of the tournament is acting as a qualifier for October’s AIBA World Elite Men’s Championships in Doha, Qatar which is a qualifier for the Rio 2016 Olympics. (more…)

  • Boston Boxing: Hyannis Fight Week Kicks Off On Cape Cod

    It’s Fight Week in Hyannis, as this Saturday, August 8, Boston Boxing Promotions brings pro boxing back to Cape Cod for the first time in nearly a decade.

  • Newly Minted IBF Featherweight King Selby Signs With Haymon

    IBF Featherweight Champion Lee Selby has signed a deal to work with Boxing Advisor Al Haymon.

    Haymon currently works with a number of the world’s leading boxers, including Brits Amir Khan, Carl Frampton and James DeGale. Haymon will work as an advisor to Selby, who will continue to be managed by Chris Sanigar. (more…)

    Due to a last minute, non-career threatening medical issue, Jr. Lightweight Frank De Alba will not compete in tonight’s fight with Omar Douglas at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.

    The bout was scheduled to be streamed on ESPN3.com.

    Winter Park, Florida’s own Daquan Arnett (13-1, 8 KOs) squares off against Joshua Conley (11-0-1, 6 KOs) in a matchup of exciting super welterweight prospects as part of a full night of fights on Sunday, August 2 from Full Sail University in Winter Park, Florida.

    This fight will lead into the inaugural installment of PBC: The Next Round On Bounce TV, headlined by a 12 round bantamweight world championship fight between Juan Carlos “Baby Pacquiao”Payano (16-0, 8 KOs) and Rau’shee “Nuke” Warren (13-0, 4 KO).

    Also on the telecast will be a two-fight tournament in the junior middleweight division featuring a 10 round matchup between Olympic Silver medalist Yudel Jhonson (17-1, 9 KOs) versus the knockout machine Jorge Cota (24-1, 22 KOs), and a 10 round showdown between Olympian John Jackson (19-2, 15 KOs) and Dennis Laurente (49-5, 30 KOs).   • Mike Tyson To Present Muhammad Ali For Nevada HOF Induction

    Former heavyweight champion Mike Tyson became the latest mega-star to announce that he will attend the third annual Nevada Boxing Hall of Fame’s induction gala, which will take place in eight days, next Saturday, August 8, at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas.

    Tyson, a member of the Nevada Boxing Hall of Fame’s inaugural class in 2013, will present “The Greatest,” Muhammad Ali, for induction.

    Tyson joins legends Floyd Mayweather Jr., Marvelous Marvin Hagler, Sugar Ray Leonard, Lennox Lewis, Felix “Tito” Trinidad, Marco Antonio Barrera, Roger Mayweather and Eddie Mustafa Muhammad who will attend the popular charity event. (more…)

  • Pioneering Boxer Bill Richmond To Be Honored In London

    A permanent memorial to pioneering black boxer Bill Richmond (1763-1829) will be unveiled by Earl George Percy at the Tom Cribb pub, in Panton Street, London on Wednesday 26 August 2015 at 2pm.

    A portrait of Richmond and a plaque summarising his amazing life and career will adorn the wall of the historic pub owned by Shepherd Neame brewery in recognition of Richmond’s position in history as the first black sportsman to achieve international fame and significance.

    The unveiling will take place at a launch event for Luke G. Williams’ new book Richmond Unchained: The Biography of the World’s First Black Sporting Superstar, which is published on 15 August by Amberley Books.

    Born into slavery in America, Richmond travelled to England in the 1770’s thanks to the kindly intervention of Earl Hugh Percy, a British soldier renowned for his humanitarianism, who ensured that Richmond received an education and was apprenticed to a cabinetmaker. (more…)

    Vito Mielnicki Jr. wins Jr. National Golden Gloves tournament in Las Vegas

    Last week in Las Vegas, Vito Mielnicki Jr. captured the National Jr. Golden Gloves tournament in the 13-14 year-old, 90 pound weight class.

    Mielnicki defeated Jaylan Walker of California 2-1, Patick Cody of Washington 3-0 and Eric Tudor of Florida 3-0 to win his fourth National title.

    Mielnicki is trained by Willie Moses at the Elite Heat Gym in Newark, New Jersey.

    Jr. Middleweight, Michael Moore, (13-1, 6 KO’s) is currently out in Las Vegas fine tuning his skills under the leadership and training of Jeff Mayweather. Mayweather is assisting in taking the fighter that’s known as “The Silverback” to the next level.
