  • Boxing Returns The Orleans Casino In Las Vegas

    Headlined by a rubber match between current WBA super welterweight champion, Layla “Amazing” McCarter and ex World Champion Melissa “Huracan” Hernandez, Platinum Entertainment in association with The Orleans Hotel & Casino and Roy Jones Jr. Boxing, will bring back live professional boxing to The Orleans Hotel and Casino a venue that has one of the richest tradition of local professional boxing in Las Vegas.

    The event is schedule for Friday, November 21, 2014.

    In addition to the boxing show, the event will host and honor the 1984 US Olympic Boxing Team. Organized by The Ring of Gold Committee, the team from the 1984 Los Angeles Olympic Games, is holding their 30 Year Anniversary festivities in Las Vegas, including their appearance at this venue.     Integrated Sports Media (ISM) announced today that it will deliver the “Bute vs. Bolonti” double feature to United States fans, Saturday, December 6, live from historic Bell Centre in Montreal.

    Former IBF super middleweight champion Lucian “Le Tombeaur” Bute (31-2, 24 KOs), currently the WBC No. 5 world rated light heavyweight, headlines in a 10/12 round bout against former world title challenger Roberto “La Bestia” Bolonti (35-3, 24 KOs). In the 10/12 round co-feature, former WBC light heavyweight champion Jean Pascal (29-2-1, 17 KOs) will risk his world No. 1 ranking against Donovan “Da Bomb” George (25-4-2, 22 KOs), fighting out of Chicago.     “I can’t wait for the fight. Gabriel Rosado is a great fighter. He comes to fight and he’s a very tough opponent. However, I’ve never felt so strong in a camp and trained so well. If you saw my fight against Fernando Guerrero, it is going to be a new David again.

    Boxing has its “Superman”, WBC light heavyweight champion Adonis Stevenson, and from the same country, ironically, comes “Batman” – world super middleweight contender Schiller Hyppolite (13-0-1, 9 KOs).

    The 28-year-old Hyppolite, like Stevenson, was born in Haiti and he also lives in Montreal. Hyppolite has won eight straight fights and is world rated by the IBF at No. 15, as well as No. 19 by the WBC. (more…)

    Golden Boy Promotions returns to its East Coast home – Barclays Center in Brooklyn, NY on Saturday, December 6 with a special HBO Boxing After Dark tripleheader.

    In the 12-round main event, rising Canadian star David Lemieux will defend his NABF Middleweight Title against the no nonsense Philadelphian warrior “King” Gabriel Rosado. Plus, unbeaten Californian Hugo “The Boss” Centeno Jr. takes on his toughest challenge yet in the form of Texas’ James “The King” De La Rosa.

  • Not So Fast: Chambers Not On Joshua Bandwagon

    Former world heavyweight title challenger ‘Fast’ Eddie Chambers likes what he has seen of fast-rising prospect Anthony Joshua, but fears his run of soft opposition may only serve to hurt him in the future.

    The 32-year-old Chambers, once of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, now an honorary member of Team Fury in Bolton, speaks from experience. Back in March 2010 he scaled the heights and challenged Wladimir Klitschko for the world heavyweight championship. He therefore knows a good heavyweight when he sees one.

    “At the moment they’re doing a good job of making Joshua look unbeatable,” said Chambers. “The only problem with that is you get to a point where that’s all you’re used to. Then you get in there with somebody who can prove you’re very beatable. Then panic sets in. Then you realise you have no foundations or experience to fall back on. (more…)

  • Martin Murray Next Up In Gennady Golovkin Firing Line

    The deal has been signed – unbeaten WBA, IBO and WBC Interim middleweight champion Gennady Golovkin (31-0, 28 KOs) of Kazakhstan will fight top-rated Martin Murray (28-1-1, 12 KOs) of the UK in Monte Carlo on February 21.

    Golden Gloves and K2 Promotions announced the bout minutes after Murray’s successful WBC Silver belt defence against Domenico Spada in Monaco on Saturday.

    Golovkin will go in search of his record 19th straight stoppage while Murray will be hoping it is third time lucky after two previous title bids were rebuffed by the judges. (more…)

    England’s Martin Murray continued his march towards a world title shot with a dramatic seventh-round technical decision win over rugged Domenico Spada of Italy in the main bout on the Golden Gloves “Title Tornado” card in Monaco on Saturday night.

    The fight was called off due to an accidental head butt, leading to a premature calling of the judges’ scorecards. (more…)
