    Undefeated heavyweight Deontay Wilder, most would agree, is a work in progress. He’s not your typical work in progress, however, unless you consider his record of 28-0 with 28 knockouts run of the mill.

    Still, the question on most everyone’s mind: Does the former amateur standout and the last male American to medal in the Olympic Games possess the skills and talent to one day became a world champion?

    Former world heavyweight champion and 1996 Bellarusian Olympian, Sergei “The White Wolf” Liakhovich, has some unfinished boxing business to take care of starting April 9, when the consummate boxer-puncher returns to the ring for the first time in nearly a year.

    The 34-year-old Liakhovich (25-3, 16 KOs), rated No. 13 by the WBC, takes on Johnnie White (22-4, 18 KOs) in the 10 round co-feature on Main Events’ pay-per-view-card, headlined by Tomas Adamek versus Kevin McBride, at Prudential Center in Neward, New Jersey. (more…)

  • Boxing Result: David Haye Unseats WBA Champ Nicolai Valuev

    England’s David Haye pulled off a major upset last night at Arena Verischerung in Nuremberg, Germany, taking the WBA heavyweight title from Nicolai Valuev via majority decision.

    It wasn’t pretty or particularly entertaining but Haye delivered the kind of mature performance many thought him incapable of beforehand, simply outboxing the massive Russian in every round.

    Much smaller and lighter than the 7’0, 316 pound champion, Haye proved to be nearly impossible for Valuev to hit and the former cruiserweight titlist used his quicker hands to counter well. (more…)

    Two of Don King’s top fighters have been added to Saturday’s card headlined by WBA heavyweight champion Nikolai Valuev his title opposing David Haye in Nuremberg, Germany, at Versicherung Arena.

    Former WBO heavyweight champion Sergei “White Wolf” Liakhovich (23-3, 14 KOs) will face dangerous veteran Jeremy “The Beast” Bates (22-16-1, 18 KOs), and undefeated cruiserweight Francisco “The Wizard” Palacios (18-0, 11 KOs) will meet DeLeon Tinsley (9-4-1, 5 KOs).
