Boxing Betting Odds Explained
Money Line: In certain situations the odds-maker may
set a "Money Line" bet alongside or instead of a point-spread If a
match-up is determined by a Money Line, then it will cost more to win less on
the favorite, and less to win more on the underdog. Since no point spread is
involved, a customer simply selects a winner and is paid according to the
"Money Line" the the odds-maker sets.
Money
Line Wagers The boxer
wagered on just has to win the fight.
The amount you lay or take for each fight
may vary. The money line that is read to at the time of your wager is the
money line you keep regardless of any line movement.
Example: The player wagers on Roy Jones -160 at Antonio Tarver +260. If
Roy wins then the player would lay $160.00 to win $100.00. If the
player bet on Tarver then the player would lay $100.00 to win $260.00
European Odds All European football lines are quoted using European odds. European
odds are slightly different than their North American money-line counterparts.
American Money-line odds are expressed with a minus (-) or a plus (+) symbol.
(i.e. -150 or +200). European Odds use a decimal, include the original stake
in the odds, and omit the minus or plus.
Example #1: You wager on a team offered at 4.00. In European Odds this
would means that for every $1.00 you wager (your stake), you get back
$4.00 if they win - $3.00 plus your original $1.00 stake. If you lose, you
lose your $1.00 wager.
Example #2: You wager on a team offered at 1.60. In European Odds this
would means that for every $1.00 you wager (your stake), you get back
$1.60 if you win - $0.60 plus your original $1.00 stake. If you lose, you
lose your $1.00 wager.
