Looking back over your time in boxing, what was the biggest bollock youve dropped. Also what would you have changed.

My regret is that I didn't get into it earlier. I didn't go into a real boxing gym until I was 40 yrs. old. I do it now just to stay in shape. I would like to have competed as an amateur, but was too intimidated.
Looking back over this season (my boxings not over for a long time yet :P)
Like Canvas said: Not getting into it early. I really have a drive and enthusiasm for this sport. If I'd been doing it since I was a school boy who knows where I would be today.
The only other Bollock I have dropped was my last fight... although not completely in my hands I have to take responsibility for it, I'd learned a lot from past fights on taking my time and looking for the shot and it all went out of the window.
I had a lot on my mind (other lads I was worried about fighting amonsgt other things) and two of our lads fought before me so I didn't get warmed up by my coach (one of hte new lads at the gym had to hold the pads for me who couldn't do it to save his life) Shadow boxed till I got warmed up physically but not mentally.
Lost the fight very narrowly on points basiclly because I forgot the fundimentals and didn't jab much... pissed because I could and should of beat him but my head wasn't right amongst other things. At the end of the day its all a learning experience but I have yet to enter the ring with a lad I couldn't have beaten (competativly atleast any way) and it wasn't a case of performing my best and loosing but loosing, I performed my worst. Credit to the lad though I was working hard but his ring craft was good, kept me off balance every time I threw those stupid hooks I shouldn't of. settled in the third and I would of over taken in a four round fight but a the end of the day I lost...
I wasn't beat but I lost the fight because I had the fight
I suppose all so I wish I bothered my self to learn more about nutrition before I started, always been fit since I started doing it but I'd be twice as fit now if I'd always eaten right, I used to under eat so some of my training would of actualy lowered my fitness... sort of a case of 1 step back and 2 steps forward instead of 3 forwards.

Time over, I would now go to western boxing instead of Chinese boxing I think.
No regets just wonder what the outcome would have been.
One mistake I'd change, glanceing at someone behind my senior instructor and walking my chin into a front heel kick and meeting up with a universe of stars.
Funny thing happed though it was Sunday morning about 9am and on the way home I stopped at traffic lights and a whole church load of clean well dressed people were crossing over to it ,but looking in at me dressed in black with blood and sweat all over the place.
Reget #2 ,not having a camera for the look on their faces.
I can't say I have too much to look back on.Except maybe I should've trained everyday and tried a little harder.
only regret is starting late, 22 years old, but now im lokking forward to winning as many fights as possible.
I dont think thats late Gally You can still have years of fun

Same regret here is not staring earlier. Started a month before my 23 birthday, but Im giving it a lot of effort at the moment, try and make up for lost time. Been wanting to give it a go since I was very young, but had trouble finding a nearby gym, and travelling to get there.
Saw a guy called Barrington Brown box on sky last night, he was 24 and only been boxing for 18 months, and he beat a former decorated amateur in the second round I think of a 6 round fight, even though it was meant to be the other guy being groomed to the top. Gives me hope.![]()
