Default First Fight June 24th need advice!

I have signed up for my first Fight Night June 24th at my boxing gym. I am currently training with a guy about twice a week and visit the boxing gym about 5 times a week. I would like to know what I should expect and what I need to be doing up to that day. I do cardio. I spar. I go to the gym. My diet is clean.

    Its only 4 rounds

For some people, you should expect to be nervous. But the thing is DO NOT be nervous. You want to be relaxed and just be calm. You fight better when you calm and relaxed. Also don't under estimate your opponent, that can be one of the more worse things you can do. Don't get ahead of yourself, just go out there, have fun, be relaxed, bring home a win. Good Luck

Thank you for the kind words and advice, I will be training hard up until a couple days before the fight but I would like to know the essential basics of my pre-fight prep.

Get good rest, do a easy but good warm up, eat alot of protein( will give you energy during your fight). Relaxe and dont tire yourself out before your match. But make sure you are very loose and well warmed up

Think positive, size your lad up and have a gameplan, keep everything in and use the 'fear' (adrenalin) to drive you... its just energy... use it

Is this amatuer, pro, or just sparring?

well first time for anything you just got to remember this is a learning experience more than it is anything else. just treat it as such and business as usual you know?

So is it just an exhibition between the lads on your gym against each other? your gym could put a show on and take other boxers in for you to fight... do you have an amatuer card yet?

Focus and always listen to your coach's advices in between rounds

Its a gym show, there are no officials there, its just sparring with other clubs. If itb gets to hard they make the rounds shorter, no one gets hurt its to give you an idea what a contest is all about. The coach will be the ref, its not a bad idea.

I will not be fighting got my nose broken by a short right cross while sparring with my trainer. I am a little pissed becuase a) he broke my nose b) I cant fight.

I dont really know what to say, I mean its boxing and all but to hit me hard enough to break my nose is not really that cool. If i wanted to get my nose broken I could have asked to spar with anybody bare knuckle and not my trainer show is supposed to teach me how to fight

    c) you don't block it or move out the way :P

Kidding but seriously, unless you where ment to be going light, you can't complain, and even if you where its pretty hard to throw a fast soft punch with good technique. even a soft blow can break your nose if it lands right... 12,14,16 OZ gloves its sparring, shit happens

Trust me, he as doing you a favour throwing hard shots at you... you'd have shit your pants if you weren't use to having some one trying to hurt you when you compete for the first time. you'd freeze up and forget everything, you need to learn to use your technique under that stress.

yeah it happens its not too bad. he caught me with a cross right to the right side of my face (if you were facing me) Just a little upset that I didnt have insurance. I mean its not broken too bad (it wasnt bleeding when it happened) but yeah i never had a male model nose to begin with. I guess I will just wait until I get it broken again (with insurance ) so I can get it fixed.

it gives you character, can you insure it if it gets damage boxing? its only a few steps down from telling them that you deliberatly walked into a door 100 times and now you want a free nose job :P
