And no I don't know the answer.
What fighter has had the most professional fights?
I see Archie Moore had 222!!
He had 3 fights in August of 1958 and and won all 3

I can top that easilyCharles Goldman had over somewhere between 300 and 400 fights in his entire career but since it was waaaaaay back in the day most of his matches went unrecorded throughout boxing history, if you went to boxrec that record is incorrect since about 300 of his fights went unrecorded BUT he easily beats Reggie Strickland

here, do the research

Jimmy Wilde was also claimed to have around 800 fightsBut not all of them have been covered by boxing records
So it's really not known...
And it's not known basically because history starts Wilde's career in 1911 but he had been fighting as a professional for about 3 or 4 years before thatHe probably didn't have 800 bouts, but I would say it was probably closer to 5 or 600

Billy Bird had 330 recorded bouts if thats what you're looking for, in "recorded" bouts he'd be second behing Reggie.. but in total professional fights(recorded and unrecorded) Billy Wilde. Of course because the first 4 years of his career are unrecorded lol
George Dixon was also said to have around 800 fights(many unrecorded)
oh I should stop now so Britkid can come back![]()
I've left a few open if you so choose to have a go![]()
How about this one
Theogenes of Thasos, 480 BCE, was a boxer an pancratiast who won 1300 titles in the course of 22 years.

he doesn't take a beating. Thats the point. he can box well and defensively but to just do enough to lose.Originally Posted by bigragu
The old fighters like Moore were battle hardened. I know people talk about the dietry & physical advantages that todays fighters have but I'm not sure that compensates for the experience & toughness of these old pros. Also boxing was so much more popular in those days in terms of interest & in the numbers of fighters as pros, the competition must have been fierce. These things seem to be overlooked when comparing old & new fighters. I'd pick Louis, for example, over Holyfield any day, I'd fancy him against Tyson as well.
for everyone that kept the debate alive!! God, I love this forum......
