Default Tarver is a one hit wonder.

The only one fighter that Tarver was able to gain popularity from was the wins over Roy Jones Jr., other than that, Tarver at best is a mediocre fighter. He capitalized on those wins, but his loss tonight shows he can talk the talk but can't walk the walk. I think it's time for this big mouth sorry **s to retire away to the oblivion.

His decision to fight and choice of words in the coming days and years will determine whether it'll contradict what he says about Roy Jones Jr.--no excuse on the weight loss for Roy and saying Roy is crazy for fighting some unknown guy. In fact, during the post fight interview with Larry Merchant, he did say something along the line "physically." Who knows what he was talking about.

In my books, Tarver is a One Hit Wonder.

another Vernon Forrest. He has the style to trouble one of the best fighters in the era, and it has nothing to do with him being a better fighter, it has to do with his style is troubling for the other. But soon as he fights someone without the style of Roy Jones Jr he struggles.

its probably true, but after all he still was the first man ever to defeat Roy Jones (the best fighter of the last decade)
    That deserves some credit

Exactly! That is what qualifies Tarver for the One Hit Wonder list! You've got to do something wonderful or significant to make it to this list...haha

Beat him 3 times imo, so not exactly "One Hit"

he didn't do enough to beat Roy Jones the first time round when Roy was Weight drained and on the slide... second time he got lucky and the third time he chased an old man who was too scared to commit when tarver was there for the taking.

A decent boxer but literally a one hit wonder...

Clearly won the first imo, clearly won the 3rd and knocked the guy out in the 2nd. Don't get me wrong I don't rate him that highlly and don't like him, but you don't win 3 fights on one punch, and your points is just are rerranging facts to support an argument.

I've got to disagree because Tarver took big fights, and fought his way into fights. I hate him as a person, but he challenges the opponents he could, and is in a sense good for the sport. Not to mention every loss except this one he has come back and rectified... There is no shame in losing a one sided decision to Hopkins... he is far from the first and far from least talented person to do so.

I believe the "hit" would be the "RJJ"..... kinda like Vanilla Ice and "Ice ice baby".....its still only 1 thing no matter how many times you play/fight it.......
