Gally they are okay, but a better way I think, is Rubber or Elastic rope. Put round the back and held in the hand. It seems to give muscle a better idea of what to do, and the body mechanics seem to respond a lot better and more naturally. Another little thing you can try is to attache the rubber round the ring post, or something solid. Then move back throwing punches in clusters with your feet moving as fast as your hands. That will make you punch a lot faster, do 30 sec rounds on it with a 15 sec rest you will feel the difference

They actually have such things with handles made just for boxers they are used to train the hands where to be on instinct...any title or everlast catalog has them,,,if you need one go to the web site they will mail one to you sells anything a boxer needs from trunks to rings and anything between....included weighted gloves..Originally Posted by gally
This is a bad thing to do everyday the weight help build speed and some muscle tone but the hands get to used to them and when not wearing them can deciecve you on exactly how fast or hard you are punching....i would only use them 3 or so out of every 5 times you train
Hidden Content IN CASE THEY ALL FORGOT WHAT REAL HEAVYWEIGHT POWER WAS!!!
my trainer has me shadowbox with light weights and do high rep arm exercises with them for about 3 rounds, some days i will follow him in the ring with my lead shoulder always facing him constantly throwing straight punches with them also
This is a very good item i use it all the time when i am training

Lords, They are the worst bit of designed bit of kit Ive seen. Biomechanically its a waste of time, it will give bad posture, lower back problems and in no way work the support muscles that make for good technique. The elastic should come from the waste passing inside the elbows. Whats happening using that kit is your changing your centre of gravity for the wrong reason, sorry.

my two cents:
I tried punching with hand weights and I don't like it. I think it raises the potential to hyperextend your elbows. For power you're better off doing clap push-ups or bench press e-lifts or shot-putting a medicine ball against your basement wall or a plyometric millitary press.
Anything that engages fast-twitch muscle. I don't feel hand weights will do that effectively.

Von they tell you there are 3 types of muscle fibre, Im telling you there are 4. Its the muscle between the ears, and without it functioning nothing does with meaning. Most gadgets or machines on the market will help in someway, but will destroy motorization in another. In the last 10 years Ive had a lot of dealings with Universitys and I can tell you very little new stuff comes out of them places, but a hell of a lot goes in tested mainly by people not on the shop floor, if you get my drift. they tested one of my ideas and for 3 years they wouldnt touch it because, they thought my claims were impossible. They told me I had lost my marbles[ we all know that anyway] Now theyve tested it Ive become a genius over night in their eyes Its the biggest step forward in sports science in 50 years, but they still dont basically understand the fucking thing. Thats the thing that really hurts no cunt understands what they are doing to what and why. Sorry I went in to one there

Scraps,
first off, have you been drinking again? (joke!)
second, what's your idea? private message me if you have to, but you can't tell me you have a revolutionary idea and then not tell me what it is? lol. PS - I'm an idea man. I've got more intventions than I can keep up with. Neccessity is the mother.
two more of my pennies:
I also don't like shadow boxing. IMO, anything you can do in a shadow is more beneficial when/if done on the bag and/or in the mirror. ie, why shadow box when you can hit the bag in front of a mirror? (unless you have no choice)
Tell you why von, Feel its one of the most important senses we have, and people dont understand it.Talk to anybody and off coarse they do. No they dont I didnt though I thought I did[ clever bollocks me] until I met a man who did. He was a lecturer at harvard for 9 years and did he know his stuff and for 6 years he had an eager apprentice who wanted to find out, If you look at somebody with a trained eye you can see how they feel Feel and eyesight are the things that give us good or bad habits in sport and life Dont imagine what your doing by punching a bag, shut your eyes and shadow box feel what you are doing and with a good coach to direct you success is round the corner. dont be blind shut your eyes

some of your posts are deeper than scientific literature. Or even the US Code or bible. lol.
Ok, I'll ask my trainer about shadow boxing.
