Thread: MAYWEATHER VS. SPINKS?

i know that before the karmazin fight spinks said "if floyd wants to fight at 154, he should fight the best....and thats me" (or something along those lines)


then of course, after the fight spinks made a quick reference toward fighting floyd

i could see this fight happening and i think it would be a good fight, even better than margarito. seeing as how its been a goal of floyds for a long time to capture world championships in 5 different weight classes before he turns 30 (he would be the first to do so)
spinks now has a legitimate world title at 154, and looked pretty good obtaining it.

also, it would give floyd a lot of time to adjust to the new weight class before the potential mega fight with oscar next year

this is just another possibility of who he could fight next

You can compare their fights with Judah Both struggled . Spinks even had him down , Floyd didnt but Floyd wasnt knocked down either ( officially ).

Floyd would win a ud, Spinks has no pop at 147 let alone 154, and he can only fight 10 rounds so I don't see him troubling Mayweather much.

agreed........i think this fight would be anything but a classic(i could be wrong)but i do see it as about as safe a fight as floyd can make at 154, for him to test the waters with a minimal chance for him to get knocked out
not to mention the ibf strap at 154 actually has some credibility to it (unlike the ibf strap he got for beating judah)
i think this is the smartest fight out there for floyd right now, but there is a BIG x factor named don king
i dunno if this fight could be a big enough draw and do enough ppv numbers to get floyd anything close to a guaranteed 8mil he was offered for tony..


and if it could?? is dk gonna let floyd get that big of a piece of the pie and leave himself and spinks with crumbs??

Based on the Judah fight , Floyd has even less pop that Cory and thats saying sumthin .

are all better fights but less likely to happen

spinks is not that good ,hes a righthanded guy who fights as a lefty cause its easier ,and hes going on his name...he would be destroyed by pbf lol

Yeah, I think that this is the fight take will take place in November. Spinks wants the dough, Mayweather wants that 5th weight class title. Expect this fight to happen.

I don't think Spinks power would be an issue, Spinks jab would trouble Mayweather since I don't recall anyone using a jab against him. Floyd also lunged a lot against Judah which is why he got caught with those straight left hands, I think Spinks could outbox Floyd, not because he's better but because his style can give Floyd problems, especially at 154
