Pacquiao to train for 8 weeks or more
FILIPINO ring idol Manny Pacquiao is riding high before he buckles down to serious training for his third encounter with legendary Mexican Erik “El Terrible” Morales at the Thomas and Mack Center in Las Vegas on Nov. 18.
Pacquiao is scheduled to leave for Los Angeles in the first week of August to finalize details of the fight with Morales.
According to Pacquiao’s close friend and confidant Wakee Salud, the ring gladiator, who was recently voted the best pound-for-pound fighter by the World Boxing Media, is determined to train doubly hard for the Morales fight.
Pacquiao’s lawyer Franklin Gacal said the Morales’ contract had been “signed and sealed, but only needs to be delivered” squelching speculations of any hitches.
The Pacman himself told Viva Sports/Standard Today he would train for at least eight weeks or even more at the Wild Card Gym of trainer Freddie Roach in preparation for what he expects to be a tough fight.
Roach said Morales is a tough customer and will be at his toughest for the Nov. 18 battle.
The American trainer disclosed that he has been consistently reminding Pacquiao that he will have to be in the best shape of his life for the encounter and if that happens, Pacquiao will eventually get Morales in the later rounds, like he did last January when he scored a 10th-round stoppage.
