    Default Quit?

Ok so I've been going to a boxing gym for about a month now, and basically, I feel as if it's not doing me any good.

I just get tired, see no change in my abs, getting skinnier, and weaker.

Before I would do lots of weight lifting, I had a near six pack, and was much stronger then i am now.

Should I continue the life of box or return to the strong life of weights?

Weight lifting and boxing are two different sports, so if you only do one of them there is of course going to be a difference ya know. I am sure you are stronger, just in not the places you are wanting. When I use to just weight lift I was pretty swole (for my size ) but once I pretty much stopped all the weight lifting, yes, my upper body did seem to get smaller, but there is no way with the training I do now for boxing I would say I am weaker. But everybody is different though too.

Would you rather be swole, or would you rather be a good figher? That's the main question.

you maybe can't bench or curl as much but I'm willing to bet you throw a better left hook now. do you want strength or boxing ability.

In a fight I'll take a 150lb boxer over a 200lb muscle head any day. The apex preditor is the dominant one in the fight, not necessarily the biggest and strongest. It's not the size of the dog in the fight, it's the size of the fight in the dog.

Size of the fight in the dog... I like that one, cc...

The problem isn't what it's better to be, a boxer of a 'weight lifter' (its a boxer by the way) its a question of wether you want it or not.

If you don't want it you're in the wrong sport and pumping Iron may be more your thing.

never, you can still lift, just make sure you do elifts and plyos to work the fast twitch muscle as well.

Elifts (I think) are sets of weight lifting exercises where the amount of repetitions pyramids negativly (eg 10,8,6... what ever)

Plyometrics are exercises that are performed with an explosive movement to increase power (a combination of speed and strength) a good example would be Burpees or Clap press ups.

elifts are lifts where you only use about 60% of your one rep max, and you move the load as fast as possible to 95% extension. I like decreasing weight with every set because you can move the load faster and faster until you're using basically all fast twitchies. the e = explosive. a clap push up is an example of both a light elift and a plyo.

a lot of plyo experts claim that all you need is your body weight and a medicine ball. I agree.

    All I use

You can acheive results with weights but a lot of the exercises people do are Isolation which I am not a big fan of when training is being applied to a specific sport.

Compound movements relevant to the sport are the way to go

    TOTALLY AGREE!!!!! cc

Everything you train should be relevant to boxing( If you are a boxer) or at least as much as you can.

Every good trainer in any sport has told me that.
