    Default JMM interview

How have you been since your loss to Chris John in Indonesia?

I feel perfectly fine since that fight. It did not affect me at all mentally or physically. We know that we won that fight and we are comfortable with knowing that.

Many people believe that your fight against John was a lot closer than the scorecards would indicate; in fact many people believe you won the fight. What happened?

Everything during the fight was affecting me, the judges, the referee…especially the referee, when I would have Chris John hurt, he would break us up, even when we weren’t tied up. We’ve sent videos of the fight to the US and it has been seen and said that one of the low blows was in fact not a low blow and that Chris John really only won two rounds

Like many Thailanders, your opponent Terdsak Jandaeng has an impressive record on paper, but if you look into it, most of his opponents have more losses than wins or are journeymen at best. The only exception is Joan Guzman, which accounts for his only loss. What do you want to gain from this fight?

We’re not overconfident. We’re prepared and not taking this lightly at all. Every fight to me is now a title fight. Once you’re in the ring, you can’t underestimate any opponent, regardless of their record. Anybody who makes a living in the ring is a threat.

Even after your loss to Chris John, many people’s opinion is that you are still the man to beat in the featherweight division. Do you have a rematch with Chris John in your plans?

I’ve been guaranteed a rematch against Chris John immediately following my fight with Terdsak, if all goes well. It will be in the United States this time. It has been told to me I will have that rematch. I’ve gone and fought over there, I think it is only fair he comes this way.

There is a lot of excitement going on in the super featherweight division. Right now, it’s considered one of boxing’s toughest divisions. Have you thought about moving up to 130 lbs?

Like you said, there are a lot of good fights at 130 lbs; Barrios, Rocky Juarez, Barrera, Pacquiao, Erik (Morales). If they came to me looking to make the fight at 130, I would take it.

Would you like to fight Pacquiao again? It was said that you turned down a rematch with Pacquiao because you wanted a $1,000,000. Purse, is that true?

I turned down the rematch because I was only offered $100,000 more than the first fight. Now I thought that economically neither of us was getting the deal we deserved. I don’t think he was offered enough for such a big fight, neither of us was, and I backed out. I think we both deserved more money than what was being offered to both of us. Obviously his promotional team at the time was in the wrong, as he sued and left them. I think now, with a different promotional team, we can make that rematch what it should be for both of us.

I was actually ON JMM for backing out, but now I know. Way to go JMM now both him and Pac will make a lot more when they clash at 130. It would be another fight of the year candidate, I mean with Pac improving and JMM being cautious from the opening bell.
