Joe Louis held universal recogintion as Heavyweight World Champion for nearly 12 years

Abe Attell held claims to the Featherweight World Championship from 1901 though to 1912

Simon Harrison has held the SHBF heavyweight title from July 1988 to the present day...

1901-1912=11 years he still loses to Louis.

i think longest is joe lou, and a shoutout has to go to joe calzaghe for what must be about 8/9 years now??

yeh its a pretty badass run, i think floyd must have a pretty bad record in title fights at the moment i mean hes never lost and hes won titles in 4 classes.. that must look awfully good on the ol rec! also tito had a good title run before he was defeated, is tito still the only man in middle wieght to have won the title on the first match in the wieght class( apart form s.r.leonard?)

10 years actually October 28 1901 to February 22 1912

Louis reigned between:

June 22 1937 to either

June 25th 1948: (his last (successful) defence against Walcott

March 1 1949: When he announced his retirement, or

September 27 1950, when he lost to Charles,and thus Ezzard was considered World Champion by everyone except Europe and Great Britain.


As for Abe, it is a very debatable subject as a lot of people discredit Attell, many of his fights were by his own admission fixed. And yet at his best, he was some think (not me) maybe the Greatest Featherweight ever...

Chavez was 30-4-2 I think, in WBA, WBC or IBF title fights, but if we are talking numbers then

Mr Saengmuangnoi Lukchapormasak aka Samson Dutch Boy Gym, Samson Kratingdaen-Gym, Samson Toyota-Thailand, Samson 3-K Battery, Samson Elite Gym was 39-0 in WBF title fights (38 defences of his 115lbs crown)
