Ricky Hatton has confirmed he will be fighting Juan Urango next - in January 2007.
The two-weight world champion will do battle for his old IBF light-welterweight belt in Georgia, leaving newly-crowned WBC champ Junior Witter in the lurch.
Witter immediately called out Hatton again following his points win over DeMarcus Corley on Friday, but has been told to wait.
As well as confirming his January 13 date with Urango - even though he'd wanted to fight a full two months earlier - Hatton also revealed that a superfight with Jose Luis Castillo is "virtually a done deal".
"I'm contracted to HBO for my next two fights and they're practically done deals now," he said.
"I don't see why a little bit further down the line that if Junior makes a couple of defences I can fight him.
"I'll be fighting Juan Urango on January 13 which is a little bit of a disappointment because I was hoping to fight in October or November but that's the only date HBO had available.
"On the undercard will be Castillo. Should I get past Urango they're lining up Castillo for me.
"If Junior can hold onto his belt and make a few defences the fight against me will be even bigger.
Hatton has been out in the States on a fact-finding mission this week.
The Hitman, Team Hatton have been checking out gym facilities in Atlanta as well as the city's two main stadiums, the 76,000 seat Atlanta Dome and the Phillips Arena, which seats 18,000 and could be the venue for the Urango fight.
He then flew to Las Vegas as a guest of Marco Antonio Barrera. Hatton dined with the Mexican the night before the fight and led his entourage into the ring ahead of the points win over Rocky Juarez.
For me Ricky really needs to step it up in 07, 3 fights at least i would like to see. It surely cannot help him in the long run to be so inactive at such a crucial point in his career!
