Default Another "would would win?" question...

4 years ago Roy Jones Jr beat Clinton Woods but now Clinton's the IBF LHW champion. Was Woods inexperienced at the time or what? Who would win now? I ask because Glen Johnson beat Jones and Woods beat Johnson, so what gives?

Jones has very little left to give to boxing, so I think there should not be a now for him

    lol
roy jones beat clinton before moving up to heavywieght to fight ruiz.... whooped him all over and got a tko
johnson beat jones after he had moved back down from heavyweight and had lost his power speed reflexes and his age had caught up with him... and this was after roy was knocked out by tarver too!!
clinton woods johnson was very close.. and though im glad that clinton won the fight... think it was too close to call and to be honest i had glen johnson ahead.. or had it a draw!!
so to be fair i dont feel neither tarver, johnson nor clinton are the very top tier of fighters like roy once was... just two got theyr names of beating a shot roy jones and clinton beat the man who beat the man

    cc bhb.

ok, but people talk about Roy's age, but both Tarver and Johnson are actually older and still beat him.

    I'm still confused.

    thanks bro have one back!!
it is to do with his age but it is not THE reason roy is shot....
when a fighter moves up a weight ...especially the unlimited division of heavywieght from light heavy which is two divisions!! you put on alot of wieght and muscle etc and roy was still naturally fast at heavywiehgt....
say he was in his prime and he did that ... he probably could have moved down without trouble and still come back to dominate the light heavy division again!! but at either 34 or 35 which he was his body cannot hold the muscle as if he was young anyway he would have to work hard to keep it, never mind putting on so much wieght and muscle and then having to take it off fairly quickly to come back down...
and after he moved down this resulted in him looking tired and older and slower.. his reactions werent the same .. his power was not the same... and had you said this to tarver after he beat roy he would have said no thats just excuses!!
but ask tarver now since he had to come down from around 220 (on the rocky balboa filmset!)
then fought bernard hopkins and he looked the same like his age had caught up with him and he had no pwer.... not that tarver was at any point able to stop bhop taking controll ofthe fight but i dont think he would have got schooled so bad if he had the energy or if he felt the need to use his jab stiffly and not just paw with it....
also!! roy and antonio are the same age... i think glen is a year or maybe two older then the two of them!

Roy was old when he fought Johnson. Not so much AGE old but Fight old because he dropped that weight and it aged him and he took damage from Tarver in 2 fights and then Johnson.

The RJ that whupped Woods outboxes Johnson

is that why in the rematch tarver asked him if he had any excuses?

personally, I hate tarver. bigmouth fukhead, losing looks good on him.

Yeah, because Roy looked like shat in the first fight(even though he won) and afterwards blamed the rapid weight loss... Which probably was the reason... In the 2nd Tarver fight however, Roy was fine physically and mentally, he was in much better shape, Tarver just landed a great(probably lucky) punch and then Roy was never the same.
