Default Jeff Lacy Update: HBO Turned down Fight

    http://www.doghouseboxing.com/Chee/Chee_101306.htm

In today's article by DoghouseBoxing's Gabriel Montoya, Jeff Lacy responded to recent comments from Yusaf Mack that Lacy and his team were ducking him.

An offer had been made from Team Lacy but as ‘Left Hook‘ put it, “HBO turned Mack down. Trust me, I wanted to fight him.”

As for whom Lacy will face next, the search goes on. A possible future opponent could be Allan Green but Lacy feels the
    time isn’t right just yet.

“Allan is on the hot list but I want him to keep making himself a bigger name so it could be a headline. He's not there yet. He got floored and if it wasn't in his hometown he would have been knocked out that night. He needs to keep building his name for it to be a headline fight.”

It had nothing to do with being in his hometown that saved him. I don't remember if it was the bell or that McCrary did not go for the kill. I would like to see Joe C and Allan G get busy in the ring.

I ahve to agree with Jeff on this one.

McCrary went for the kill big time . Green was out on his feet in most states/venues but the ref didn't stop it for whatever.

I have heard (and felt this ,too) from several writers/boxing ppl I respect .

I'd like to see Lacy vs. Green at some point next year.

They could have EASILY stopped the Green fight. Fights have been stopped for much less.

Well if they didn't approve Mack then it should be at least a fairly decent guy Lacy's fighting. Not that Mack's great or anything but there have been worse comeback bouts.

Yes you are right. I forgot Green was out on his feet The Castillo Corrales fight was stopped to blows similar to this. Good point. Interesting observation. Had I been a ref, I may have stopped that fight. Sho' nuff.

Thing is McCrary wasn't able to really land a big time follow up combination, if he had the ref would have had no choice but to stop it.

But Green was out on his feet, not stunned, out on his feet from the left hook and I believe it was a right hand that followed it and just fell like a sack, and got up on very unsteady legs. Refs have waived off fights for much less.

But he was able to survive the round so credit for that.

Yes and he came back and stopped the other guy. Almost only counts in horseshoe
