This Saturday night at the MEN Arena in Manchester, England, JoeCalzaghe will defend against former world title challenger Sakio Bika. Although Calzaghe is focused on his Saturday's HBO debut and Bika, he is also having thought about the future, beyond this weekend. His thoughts are on a challenging fight that would elevate his status further.
In a recent article by Dan Rafael if ESPN.com, Calzaghe spoke on future dream fights. Quoted by ESPN, Calzaghe stated: "It would be fantastic if Hopkins could come back and fight. It is all about the opponents you fight. The fight with
Hopkins will be my dream at this stage in my career. He's a fantastic fighter and has done a great job in beating Tarver. I think it would be one of the best fights in the last 10 years if we managed to get on, except I don't think he wants to fight."
Speaking on fighting in America and dropping other names he'd like to be part of, Calzaghe added: "I thought if the title fight was going to happen, then I would have come to America then and fight with Hopkins. Even if the fight was with Winky Wright or Jermain Taylor, yes, I would be willing to come. But unfortunately those people are sort of eluding me because Roy Jones got himself beat and Hopkins has retired. So we will have to wait and see. But it would be great to fight at least one fight in America."
