Thread: Virgil Hill-Henry Maske 2 2007-03-31!!!!!!!!

a bit late init! who has this one?

I am not sure the winner or loser means alot in this fight. Virgil is too old and so is Maske. It is just proving something to themselves, but not to us. My pick is Virgil by decision but what does it prove?

Truth is at 42 Virgil is just as good as anyone in the LH or cruiserweight division....Maybe not the best he is up there in age but ring wise he can hang with anyone from either division

What makes you think he is just as good as anyone in the Lightheavy division? By beating Brudov?? Have you looked at the padded record of Brudov?? Tommy Hearns could have beat him at 48 years old. Virgil beat a totally overrated guy in Brudov, and more power to him, but Virgil is not as good or better than alot of guys in that division. He has experience and he is a great fighter , but his years as an effective boxer are almost over.

Why isn't he?...I did not say he was the best nor did I say he could beat everyone I said he is as good as anyone....His ring experience alon can get him into a competitive fight....With the exception of Jones and Hopkins has the best Resume........Who the hell have any of the champions beat? O'Neil bell would be the biggest mis match for him.....This is the weakest division in boxing perhaps the two weakest....

Yeah Virgil and Roy and Hopkins have the best resume in boxing, but they are still old.. And the only claim to fame for Virgil is winning a title which he beat Brudov for. I looked at the record of the undefeated guy Virgil beat to win the title. Alot of no names with losing records. he was put in the position to fight for the title, but he should not have been there. Virgil did better by beating Donny Lalonde in 2003 than beating Brudov. Fact is yeah the cruisers are a disaster area, but light heavyweight Virgil would have a hard time beating most top guys there.

Thats Virgil's only claim to fame Do you know who Virgil Hill is??..........The guy is HOF bound...5 world titles....Most defenses of a light heavyweight title,,,Fighter of the year honors...Comeback of the years honors....a silver medal in the olympics.......The guy is a legend...Old yes no denying that but he has a hell of a career to look back on...More than just a single claim to fame

Fact is that Hill was a great boxer but now is continuing due to the bizarre state of boxing nowadays. Frankly in past decades he'd been long gone by now.
