Harrison urged not to fight

Ricky Hatton and Alex Arthur have both questioned whether Scott Harrison will be fit to defend his featherweight title next month.

The Scot was only released on bail from a Spanish jail on Monday night after spending more than a month behind bars.

And even if he passes a BBBC medical following his return home, both men say he can't be ready to take on Nicky Cook on December 9.

"There were big things on the horizon for him but it has gone pear-shaped to say the least," Hatton told the Daily Mirror.

"He seems to have gone off the rails and being locked up is not ideal preparation for fighting.

"He has been banged up for four weeks and his head will probably be in bits."

European super-featherweight champion Arthur added Harrison could be risking his health by fighting so soon.

He told the Scottish Sun: "I don't think Scott should be thinking about taking this fight unless he has been sparring in prison.

"I really don't think he can get himself into tip-top shape in time otherwise."

Arthur added: "If I was him, I would knock this fight on the head.

"Scott has to think about his health and his family before boxing, even if it means being stripped of his title."
