People who know that a boxer would be able to exploit an mma fighter's sloppy technique 1
People who think that boxers would fight like fish out of water when their opponent is allowed to kick and take them to the ground 0
good vid. liked it.
but it's not really mma.... it's K1. I do have a lot of respect for K1 guys. I won't say I know a lot about them, but I'd like to see Briggs take on a guy like Carter Williams. Kickboxers would give boxers the hardest time in an mma, IMO.
yeah i'd have to agreeOriginally Posted by Von Milash

As soon as this guy stopped kicking and thought he'd try and trade punches with Briggs (clever)it was always gonna be lights out for him.

CC Majesty. I always heard that Briggs along with Mercer and Fran Botha, got their asses kicked in K-1. That true? Did Briggs lose in K-1?
"You knocked him down...now how bout you try knockin me down ?"
Briggs: http://www.k-1usa.net/docs/fighters/...fighterid=1226
Mercer: http://www.k-1usa.net/docs/fighters/...fighterid=1236
Botha: http://www.k-1usa.net/docs/fighters/...fighterid=1146
I gotta say...Botha seems to be the most impressive, despite his 2-6 record. He has wins over Peter Aerts and Jerome Le Banner, two of the tougher mofos in K1. All his losses come by way of decision against some pretty damned good fighters (plus the one DQ). Not too shabby.
Boxing is like a handjob, and MMA is like a hot sweaty orgy with 5 chicks. I could never say no to a handjob, but which would you rather have?
Agreed. Botha is the least accomplished in the boxing world, but looked to do pretty good in the K-1 world. Still he did lose 6 fights, even if by decision. That Erikson guy Briggs KO'd was a fukin bum though, least his record would indicate that. And Mercer just embarassed himself.Originally Posted by Heavy D

Boxer vs Thaiboxer is a bad matchup under K-1 rules since the low kick can really hurt you if you're not able to block them. And I've never seen a boxer being able to do so..
of course the game is for the thai boxer to keep his guard up and launching non stop low kicks.
Other problems for boxer is the fighting distance, it seems to be easy, but I can tell you it's very HARD to change your fighting distance and to expose yourself to the kicks when you think you're safe at your usual distance.
Still, a good offensive boxer will always blow out a thai boxer if he can break the distance and put his gloves on the thai boxer.
Not sure if he could have done that against the elite K-1 fighters, but hats off to him for trying something different. CC.
