Default "Sweet Pea to train Calvin Brock"

By Ray Kilgore: Calvin Brock, now 29-1-(22), hoped callers and interviewers this week would be congratulating him on his new status as IBF heavyweight champion of the world.

Yet, Brock is left to explain what went wrong in his first championship fight against Wladimir Klitschko last weekend at Madison Square Garden. Stopped in seven, Brock is nevertheless confident if he gets another title shot he will be champion.

The 2000 Olympian revealed he needs to make adjustments in his camp and training methods if he's going to be able to compete on a championship level.

I like Brock, he's a good kid. And a personality I'd like to see more around boxing with his humbleness and quiet confidence. I think Pernell will teach him to fix his stance so that he ahs balance and doesn't always lean to his right in it. His defense is already good, but Pernell should teach him a better jab and cross.

Finally something I agree with you on. The guys got some talent, but training with sweet pea may make him into a great. Only time will tell.
He definately got my respect off of that fight even though he lost, he showed he does have a good chin. He took on today's best HW and had
a great showing, no shame in that.

Wow thats pretty big news!! cc bro!
Mann i had heard that pernell wanted to train but i always figured it would be a lighter fighter from around lightweight to middlewieght or something.. still great news for brock though!!
the person i do know he had wished to train was zab judah aswell!! zab could have done with pernell's knowledge.. maybe will still do him good i can imagine that sweet pea could maybe train other fighters still
    Peace

Pernell has worked with Zab quite a bit in the past, they used to spar quite a bit I believe, perhaps they don't still train who really knows whats happening with Judah but I think they are friends.. I also know Pernel said he was interested in working with Jason Litzau, a very hot prospect.. I think he could be a great trainer.

Well he probly shouldnt be keepin his father in the role of trainer if he's got Pernell Whitaker to train him. Especially if his dad dont know shit about boxing which seems to be the case. Brock looks like he has a lot to learn. Maybe Whitaker can make him a force in the division though.

First thing Sweet Pea needs to do is make Brock tuck his ass in.
