Default Lockett unhappy despite easy win

WBU middleweight champion Gary Lockett remained frustrated, despite a shut out, 100-90 points victory over late stand-in Ayittey Powers in Newport.
Cwmbran-man Lockett, 29, was due to top Saturday's bill at Newport Sports Centre against Roman Aramian.

But the Armenian's late withdrawal with a viral infection meant Lockett faced a non-title 10-rounder, Bradley Pryce's win over Andrew Facey topping the bill.

All things considered I thought, Lockett did a good job. He would have struggled with the same type 18 months ago looked very professional in his work.

While it might not be exactly what he himself is after, a ten rounder against a tough nut like this guy might actually be better for him skills and stamina wise, than a three-round knockout of some Armenian who didn't do his homework and got himself laid out on the canvas. Obviously, the more knockouts he accumulates, then the more that mediocre opponents will come in to the ring, and simply look to go the distance.
