Id really like to know, I hear it was close and it could have gone either way. Im wondering if that person was just biased and if Mike was robbed because he was a Torres fan.

He was robbed, he knocked his opponent down.. 2 times I believe, and still lost. It was a crap decision.
He dropped him once....
The fight your reffering to is Viloria-Nino where Viloria droped Nino twice and got a draw....
Arnoutis fought OK, Torres just kept coming forward.... Arnoutis did drop Torres in the 7th but IMO Torres did enough to win the fight hes the one that was making the fight happen and for the most part had Arnoutis going backwards against the ropes I forget the rd. it was in which Arnoutis threw something like 5 puches in the whole rd. all he did in the rd. was get hit bad....
Aranoutis did little in the first couple of rounds. He scored a knock down in the 6th I think it was, but seem scared to let his hands go for most of the fight. Torres pressed the action for most of the fight. It was a close fight, but I have no problem with the outcome. There's 12 rounds in a fight and they all count.
Torres is one TOUGH son of a bitch...Cotto really had to work hard to stop him. But Miguel also didn't try to box him at all....I'm guessing that was due to how Miguel fought him in the amateurs (which I believe they did meet at least once)
I know he fought Abdullaev and Pinto in the amateurs but I'm not really sure about Torres....but either way going straight in for the kill vs that guy was the wrong idea
Really I mean once Arnoutis would stick and move and would let his hands go he was causing problems for Torres catching him coming forward reaching an would counter Torres but he did it for like 2 or 3 rds. I think Arnoutis made this fight difficult on himself he had the tools to beat Torres and showed signs of it.... But in the end Torres wanted it more....Originally Posted by Violent Demise
I thought Arnaoutis won fairly clearly, Torres came forward but wasn't effective IMO.
I agree. Though I still though Arnoutis eked it out. He could have won every round of that fight if he had gone for it a little more though--he was clearly the superior fighter, and it's his own fault for allowing the fight to be as close as it was. Torres was very unimpressive to me. One-dimensional, slow, poor balance, bad timing.Originally Posted by CutMeMicK
Did Torres look bad or Mike really good? I don't think anyone can call it a robbery,I just read the psot fight interviews and Mike said himself that it was a close fight and he had no problem with the decision...Any implications of this fight on Cotto/ I mean does it reflect badly? I heard on ESPN,that Torres hurt his hand early, may be that had a bearing on the fight?
Neither of them looked great really, like I said I had it for Mike fairly clearly but it wasn't like he shut him out or anything. To me giving Torres the win is just giving Torres too much credit for making the fight, but Mike was way too respectful of Torres power.Originally Posted by El Gamo
I think Torres matches up better with a guy like Cotto who's coming forward and trying to make the fight than when he has to stalk a guy like Arnaoutis, but I don't think he's that good, I still think Cotto made that fight harder than it had to have been by being a bit wild.
It went like this, Torres coming forward landing occasionally but missing wildly on many of his shots. Mike was going backwards pretty effectively and landed some good counters and defended well. When Mike slowed his pace to catch a breath, Torres attacked but looked wild and frustrated with Mikes movement. It was still close and many rounds were difficult to score but I don't have a problem with the decision. I've never seen a guy knock his opponent down and touch gloves with him after he gets up. That's when you're supposed to attack. Maybe Mike will learn from that.

Generally agree with Oumafan on this. I don't think Torres hurting his hand had (if true) had a bearing on the fight though. Torres just looked very technically flawed--the problem wasn't that he wasn't throwing enough because of a hurt had; the problem was that his punches are all loopy and telegraphed, his balance is HORRIBLE, his defense sucks, and he's slow. He's just a mediocre fighter. I'm not sure this necessarily bodes ill for Cotto though, because Torres does have some power, and Quintana doesn't really. The fact that Cotto let himself get hit so much by such a limited and flawed fighter, however, may be a bad sign for the Quintana fight, since Quintana is a pretty technically proficient fighter.Originally Posted by El Gamo
Yeah, I thought Arnaoutis won, but win they called Torres the winner I was not shocked.
I was getting very angry that Arnaoutis was stingy with his punches and didn't feel like he was cheated out of a win by any means.
That sucks, I hope Mike gets a rematch.
I thought it was a decent fight. It could have went either way. I give the edge to Mike though. People keep saying that Torres looked bad, and I disagree. First off Mike is much faster, taller boxer and he is a southpaw. I really felt the problem that Torres had was fighting a southpaw. I think Torres likes to throw hooks and he couldn't land them. He landed some good straight rights but didn't have enough on them. Overall it was a very competetive fight. It wasn't toe to toe action, but each fighter had periods where they dominated and looked like the other guy wasn't going to make it. Overall a good close fight, nothing spectacular and the decision was ok, but the score cards were extremely different.
