Default Joan Guzman writes a letter to Pacquiao

    www.boxingtalk.net

    PRESS RELEASE:

    Dear Mr. Pacquaio,

Magnificent. Stupendous. Flawless. That is how you performed Saturday night in Las Vegas against Erik Morales. I write first to congratulate you on a brilliant fight. Second, I write you, Pacman, to remind you that I believe I am the world's best at 130 pounds. I am sure we can agree to disagree and that and that your fans will similarly disagree with mine on that same point. As you know, I am the WBO champion and you are the #1 mandatory. I have a title defense upcoming in my homeland, the Dominican Republic on December 18 as a part of the biggest boxing show ever held there. Should I be successful in that bout, I have made it clear to my manager, Jose Nunez, and to my co-promoters that I want them to work to make Guzman vs. Pacman for March, 2007. There can be no doubt now that you and I are the world's best two fighters at 130 pounds. The question that must be answered is who is the better man in that ring, me or you? It is a super fight and a fight fan's dream. Let's settle this one in March. All the best to you and your legion of loyal fans.

    Sincerely,

JOAN GUZMAN UNDEFEATED WBO JR. LIGHTWEIGHT CHAMPION

I would love to see this fight

Too bold for Guzman to challege Pac

This fight could be great, but Barrera holds more belt and a bigger money.

Guzman should wait for his turn

Casamayor and Diaz at 135lbs is also waiting

I know everyone thinks Guzman is the ducks nutz but I'm not 100% sold on the kid yet.

Guzman wants to share the limelight Pacman has now....He needs to prove himself first before he can fight the #1 P4P fighter in my list (that is no other than the PACMAN).

PACMAN is the best in all division in terms of excitement and value for money.

.....perhaps Edwin Valero deserves a mention...even if he is too wild for his own good. The kid can crack!

Guzman has been waiting longer than anyone else at 130 for the chance he deserves, he's the only one in my view who can match pacquiao stylistically to have a 50-50 chance. I'd honestly pick him to win the fight, and I'll be putting $ on it.

Alot of boxing is mental...& Pac has just stopped the great Erik Morales for the second time...Pac would TKO Guzman in about 6 or 8, IWO.

    PGH--thanks for the letter

Yoitsdan--what are you talking about Guzman was the WBO mandatory at Featherweight, and only moved to 130 when Scott Harrison kept having his legal & substance problems (for which, he should surrender his belt). He got the opportunity to fight Barrios (who everyone else was avoiding at 130) because the WBO sanctioned him that fight to satiate his people. He literally took the fight from Barrios, who just beat two undefeated fighters (Anchondo & Nagy--who retired).

I do think this is the natural progression inthe 130lb division for Pacquiao to face Guzman, but we've already seen the networks create the fights that they want with total disregard for who deserves the title.

If no anyone remembers, Humberto Soto won the WBC Int'l Fwt title(beat Rocky Juarez) and was supposed to become the mandatory for the champ (Chris John or Marquez). This never happened, so he surrendered that belt to fight for the WBC Int'l crown at 130.

THIS WAS ALSO AN ELIMINATION FIGHT. HE WAS SUPPOSED TO AUTOMATICALLY BECOME THE MANDATORY FOR BARRERA.

SO FOR ME, IT WOULD BE NICE TO SEE

Barrera v. Soto for WBC (130) BARRERA
Pacquiao v. Guzman for WBO (130) TOSS UP
    Valero v. Klassen for WBA/IBF (130) VALERO

Because of HBO and the rest of the media & alphabet soup, this is what will probably happen:

    Barrera will fight a 'tune up' against TBD;
Pacquiao will fight Valero in the Philippines; (this is like Calzhaghe v. Lacy)
    Guzman will fight Gogaladze--and win
Klassen will keep fighting in obscurity

THESE FIGHTS KEEP THEIR TV MARKET SHARES INTACT.

    What are your thoughts

Guzman is not a bad fighter. But he's not an elite fighter either. He has good overall skills. My biggest problem with him is his power. He was a wicked ass puncher at the lower weights. But he's seems to have lost his power as he's moved up in weight. His last 5 fights have gone the distance and it's almost been 3 years since he's knocked anybody out. And he's landed plenty of flush shots on his recent opponents.

Hey where has my post gone?, I just wanna know what the Pac groupies who tryed to gang up on the Miraculous one when i declared to the forum that Pac has been running from Joan think about this development!!

I was only saying that Guzman would give Pac hell and he's ready for Pac 5 day's of the week plus Saturdays and Sundays that's all!!!

If Pac doesn't fight Joan and remains in his safe house it will be very hard for the Pac groupie's to defend him anymore!!

PS: Angel eye's your the truth hun!!

This would be a great fight

I dont think Guzman's apparent lack of power, at this weight, is a big problem (was it for Morales? ) he hits plenty hard enough to command respect....it's whether Guzman can deal with the pace and constant pressure for 12 rounds?

Not sure, but i'd take a chance on Guzmans brilliant skills.

Is that letter for real? If yes PAC should fight Guzman!!! To fight the undefeated champion is better than to fight the champion(MAB) you beat easily

The one fight I want to see. Totally don't agree that Pac would just walk through him.
