Default De Leon Looks forward to Big Fights This Year

I really like Ponce and it's a good read! Basically,it says how he was written off and would never succeed etc etc but has proved peeps wrong even with his technical deficiencies.1 interesting thing is:

First up is a proposed unification match-up vs Israel Vazquez.

''Last week, Eric Gomez called, telling us that an offer for De Leon to face Israel Vazquez was in place, with the fight to take place on Mosley's February 10th HBO date at the Mandalay Bay in Vegas,'' said Joe Hernandez, who trains / advises De Leon. ''But May 5th would be better to face Vazquez as it is the bigger fight date (De La Hoya-Mayweather. We are only waiting for the offer to be accepted by Sycuan Ringside Promotions (Vazquez’ co-promoter) for either date. There's also the possibility of facing the WBO's number one challenger, Sergio Medina, if HBO approves that. No mention was made of the Filipino, Rey Bautista (which Boxrec.com lists as DeLeon's next opponent for March of 2007 in the Philippines),” concluded Hernandez.

''Vazquez is a hard fight,” said De Leon. “He is very experienced and a very good champion, but I'm ready, always in shape, and have no problems making the weight limit. I want to fight anyone, and I would also like the May 5th date, as the money should be better there.''

    What about Bautista?

''If the pay is good, I would do it, but I’d rather have it made here (the U.S.) instead of the Philippines, as once again, the money is here. Gomez did not mention anything about Bautista or Caballero,'' concluded the WBO titlist.

So it seems that a Bautista fight is not a done deal, not yet anyway!

CC for that Bro. I really like De Leon and i do feel he is capable of ruling his weight class. He has awesome KO power and the next 2 years i feel the biggest fights are going to be coming from him. Bautista would be nice to see but Rey aint ready for him. I would like to see De Leon fight a big name and maybe fight Vazquez later on in the year.

He is a very promising and exciting fighter imo. A few good names on his record would really boost his status at the top.

CC back brother. I don't know what I like about Leon but there is something...his image, his style,it's so raw and crude yet increidbly powerful, strong willed, rugged. He's so awkward making him dangerous all the time although like I have said earlier,he can be easily outboxed as he telegraphs nearly everything and is pretty slow although I've noticed that in his last few fights,he has been upping thte work rate, throwing many more combinations.

I think he loses to Rafael Marquez and Vazquez becasue they are technically superior but I could not totally rule out a De Leon win, that power!!
