Default James Toney VS Chris Byrd.

I think this would be a good matchup of styles.I just wanted to see what people had to say about it.I think it would be a good fight for both of them right now.

You are correct sir, It would be more competitive at Cruiser though, Toney would still take it.

I have no disrespect for chris byrd..But honestly i cannot see chris hurting James..
I see both boxing til about the mid point with james getting the slight better of him and then putting things together better and maybe dropping byrd on route to a Ud.

Could anyone tell me the reasoning behind picking Toney to KO Byrd? The only two fighters to Stop Byrd were Ike Ibeabucci and Wladimir Klitschko.Does Toney really have more power than McCline,Holyfield,Vitali Klitschko,Tua and Golota?

    An excellent match-up!
I think Toneys poor punch output and conditioning would hurt him unless the fight was made at cruiser forcing Toney to get down.
DO NOT underestimate Byrd! he held the title for a long time! 2002-2006! Don't forget, the world's formost boxing authority picked Byrd to beat Ali.
With good wins over Vitali,Tua and Evander + others!
He is a very smart boxer and very skilled! He would be,and will be,VERY tough at cruiser. I don't know....I'd pick Byrd cuz I think he's a smarter person. But I'd love to see it!

i take byrd by UD. when toney first moved up to heavyweight i was torn about who would win but after toney's last couple of fights i'm leaning towords byrd. i didn't see the first toney peter fight so i won't speak on that.

toney hasn't been looking quite that slick latety to me. in the rahman and the peter rematch he seemed to be eating a decent amount of jabs. toney still dodges the big shots but byrd doesn't throw big shots.

toney also seems to be in getting in worst shape every fight. byrd on the overhand can box an move for 12rds.

He got a forifeit win over vitali and lost that belt in his next fight against a far more inferior boxer than vitali and that 4 year awesome title reign he had was 5 fights!!!! against bums no less. He is not skilled he is boring as hell and everytime he's stepped in with a boxer that isn't afraid to throw punches, he got knocked on his ass.

i think byrd is faster at this point then toney. niehter guy has very much power, and both guys take a decent shot.

byrd, 7 rounds to 3, no KDs

As much as I love boxing, it would be a challenge to stay awake during a Toney/Byrd bout.

i would have to agree with you on the speed thing. toney looks fatter and slower with every fight. even though byrd got KO by wlad i still think he looks better than toney at this point. i think when it comes to wlad and bryd that wlad just has byrds number. they could fight a hundred times and wlad would probably win.

Byrd would embarass him badly on his jab alone. James can't deal with jabbers or boxers. Look what Reggie Johnson did to him, and look what Peter did with his jab. Please tell me the reasoning behind Toney knocking out Byrd? Only people that KO'd Byrd weighed over 250 pounds(ok James does but he doesnt have the natural power of them) Tua was one of the hardest punching heavyweights of all time, but he was Byrd's size and couldn't hurt him(even if he landed flush which was rare) when Tua hits you and all you do is smile and shout "WHOOOOOOO!" then James Toney isnt knocking you out anytime soon
