Default Paul Williams...Are we getting ahead of ourselves?

You know lately the Paul Williams hype has been buzzing hard....Just as the Margarito hype was about 3 months ago...Now all of a sudden Margarito may not be the fighter everyones thought because of performance and lack of dangerous opp...All of a sudden Paul Williams is the most dangerous man at 147....I don't get it...To be honest the best name on his resume is a shot...and I do mean SHOT!!!!!!.....Sharmba Mitchell....Yes Williams is big..Yes he can bang...and he can box a bit but really lets look at who he has been impressive against....He may be the real deal he may not who knows...but why all of a sudden is he the next big thing?....Are we that desperate that we look to anyone with potential....Before everyone blast me think about it a minute......

Joe Calzaghe was the man after he beat Lacey now even his supporters are doubting him....

Margarito was the most ducked man in boxing?....Now he is not all he was cracked up to be?.....

At least they are world champions...Williams has a win over one ex champ who hasn't been a top guy in years....Why does this always happen here?

    Just curious?

YES! As for the reason why... I'm no psychologist, nor do I want to answer that question.

But Margarito has beaten six top ten Ring Magazine contenders. Still needs a career defining fight WHICH SHOULD LEAD TO A CAREER PAYDAY. He deserves it.

Calzaghe has always been that way, if you've watched him or paid attention of his career pre-Lacy. He tends to fight down to the level of competition. That's nothing new.

Their level of comp has nothing to do with it and I have followed Clazaghes career all along...My point is we tend to start hyping a guy up when ever he has one win or we are disappointed with our current flavor of the month....Leaving out the important things...Like is he really that good to deserve the praise or are we that desperate we tend to start looking for the next bandwagon before we even know how far it is going?

Yes...we are gettin ahead of ourselves...but he's surely fun to watch & he's damned enthusiastic about what he does...thing is...he needs some serious competition to better his game.

I don't think that he fights down to the level of his opposition though. He did damned well against Mitchell...or what was left of Mitchell.

I'm curious to see him against someone closer to his size & will...Margarito is waaaaaaaaaaaaay to big of a step for him at this stage.

Nothing's wrong with Calzaghe's record...the only thing I have issues with is that he hasn't fought anyone since he kicked the shit out of Lacy.

Calzaghe fought some good opponents for his time & location...everyone always rips his opposition level...but the thing is...he's not the only one that kept certain high profile fights from being made.

As far as Williams goes...I respect him wanting to take on Margarito...but he needs to tighten up his defense before he get's in with someone of Margie's caliber...& coming from me...that aint saying much...because I aint that big of a Margarito fan & his last outting didn't do my outlook much better.

Well Calzaghe, I've never hyped him. I knew he'd fight down to Bika, despite his Masterpeice with Jeff Lacy. Calzaghe is one awesome dude, that's the truth.

Margarito, well I didn't hype him.... Floyd did! haha By turning down a career high 8 million. 8 Mill, is a lloooooottta money. He should have took the fight and "helped his fans out" instead he took on much easier fights for much much MUCH less money. 8 Mill is too much for a Mayweather, who can't even sell out an arena.
Margarito deserving a career payday or a defining fight is not "hype" it's just his due.

    Williams, YES he's hyped.

Yep. It was either the end of the second or the end of the third....think that it was the second.

Paul Williams puts his punches together very nicely adn looks like he could punch all night but to be honest he looks like a bit of a powder puff to me (mind you i only saw him in his last fight).

    Margarito would walk through him.

Yeah good point. I think people get very excited by him becuase he is such a freak of nature in the WW division. He is huge, huge reach, fast and powerful hands and people havent seen that in a fighter at WW since hearns days.
