Thread: Morrison Tests NEGATIVE For HIV

and he wants to be cleared so he can fight in a four round bout Friday and embark on a comeback. If he really is Negative for the virus there must have been something else in his system to put up red flags..but im not a doctor...good for him

I thought the same thing, imagine all the lost income Morrision could claim.

One thing though, isn't it partly Morrision's fault if he never had a follow-up test back when he was originally diagnosed?
Everything I've ever read about HIV testing states that false-positive do happen plenty of times, so if you test positive, you have get tested again right away to make sure the first one was right.
I mean, if I ever tested positive, I think I'd have about 10 follow-up tests before I accepted the fact I was positive.

Just goes to show his smaller frame is down to his admitted steroid use

He could probably get down to cruiser and should, his older chin aint gonna like those bigger punches now

Agreed, but maybe he wasnt ready to find out. Must be scary to get any test result but negative even if the test was wrong

This is all a bit murky if you ask me, how the hell has he suddenly passed an HIV test , theres no way this can be the first time he has gone for a second opinion on his diagnosis. If I tested pos for anything like that id want another 50 tests..didnt the basketball player magic johnson get rid of his hiv also? maybe if you have enough cash you can get a cure, or drugs that will at least keep the virus from showing up on tests. I hope he has a genuine all clear but I find it a bit hard the swallow personally

The return of former WBO heavyweight champion Tommy Morrison has postponed, but not because of his recent blood test. It was reported in The Arizona Republic, that Morrison has suffered a hand injury that will prevent him from fighting on January 19 in a four-round bout on the undercard of a Showtime televised card from Phoenix, Arizona.

John Montano, head of the Arizona State Boxing Commission, witnessed Morrison take a blood test at a local Phoenix lab, and obtained the official results that showed Morrison testing negative for HIV, the virus that causes AIDS.

Morrison injured his left hand while training on Saturday at Michael Munoz's gym in north Phoenix. A doctor took a look at his hand and would not allow him to fight.

Morrison, 38-years-old, will still work towards obtaining a boxing license in Arizona in order to move forward with his return.

He tested positive for HIV more than a decade ago in Las Vegas, which ended his boxing career. Morrison has maintained for the last few years that he was given a false-positive in Las Vegas. Morrison has tested negative for the virus on 4 occasions since December.

I wouldn't climb in the ring with him. Even if I were a legitimate threat, which I am not.

You can't unring a bell. He has HIV even if he doesn't.

I would insist on several tests before allowing him back in the ring.

Something about this just doesn'y seem right...I don't think the commisions will be fooled too easily...

BUT!! he should be very careful now if hes fooling around sexually...he doesn't want to get AIDS....again.
