Ok, once and for all why is he hated so much?
Well...even as a fellow-countryman I skipped watching most of his fight,cause I didn't like his
style...he was fast, but got no power at all...only fast in ,then some slapping and out again...
Doesn't sound that bad,but it was...
But the main reason that he is hated so much is that he got more than one gifted decision...
His fight against Robin Reid...I was really ashamed...Reid had not only to fight Ottke, but also
the ref ...IMO Ottke(and maybe Beyer) is the main reason why Germany has such a bad reputation in boxing...What I didn't understand ,that he was such a crowd favourite in Germany...normally the
german box-audience is pretty bloodthirsty and wants a brawl with a ko at the end...
His last fight against Armand Krajnc though was pretty okay...

34 wins and 6 ko's...
Hope I could help you...

I never taught much about Ottke before. But recently I started reviewing some of his fights. And while yes he did get some gift decisions he was wasn't a bad fighter. He couldn't crack but did knock out the loud mouth Anthony Mudine.when he had to. He was also very active. He seem to fight at least 4 times a year. Which is unheard of today for a champion. Joe Calzaghe seem to fight every obscure European fighter out there but never Sven Ottke. Like always there was always a reason why the fight wasn't made.
Calzaghe wanted to fight him 2 times and Ottke turned him down....calzaghe also wanted to travel to Germany to fight ottke but still got turn down. IMO ottke was/is the biggest joke ever.Originally Posted by Violent Demise
Ottke was a good business man . Ive seen him beaten countless times but he knew he'd always get the decision at home . He did the best with his limited skills and did a good job of it , knowing who to fight and when . On paper he had a good career but on closer inspection even he must know he was very "lucky "

about 3-5 of his fights he lost without question - yet was gifted the win. He never left germany knowing full well anyone half decent would take his title, ried beat him, brewer beat him twice byron mitchel was screwed, im pretty sure glen johnson was robbed once or twice. Thats why he was so hatedOriginally Posted by Majesty
Any chance you have a link or source for that? would like the to read t. Only things i have ever read i by boxing "Writers" who claim otte would never leave germany, and calzaghe with a dodgy hand wasn't going to risk fighting him there because of his countless home gifted wins...Originally Posted by MikeTysonKnockOut
