It's on boxingtalk. I guess it's as official as you can get.
Whose gonna train ODLH now? I really respect ODLH for not letting Mayweather Sr train him, but I feel it was more about money than honor.

i heard that Jack Mosley (Shane's daddy) was willing to step in as De La Hoya's trainer
Itll be Jack Mosley. Is this a good move by Oscar? I think so,he does not want to get involved with all the family Bullshit,he's there to fight and win but with Floyd in his corner, there would always be a distraction. I agree Albsur,I mean Floyd wanted $2million right?! I don't know much about trainers fees but that sounds like ALOT for a trainer.
On another note, what do people think of Nacho Beristein or Freddy Roach as Oscar's trainer? What's happened to Alcatraz, could Oscar get him back?
Also,I really want to know,do you guys think Floyd senior has been THAT good for Oscar??
Nah!!! Alcazar won't do it, Not only that but I don't think hes been involved in boxing for years now....Originally Posted by El Gamo
I think ODLH best choice would be Mosley Sr., not only that but I think ODLH needs someone in the corner more as positive feed and talk, ODLH pretty much knows what he has to do he knows his fight game..... He pretty much just needs someone that he can have to talk with him give him pointers so that he can execute his plan.... IMO Mosley Sr. is the best choice out there for him, he studied ODLH when SSM was gonna fight him and he knows his stuff.....
Good point,Mosley would be a good choice from that aspect.Do you think Mayweather senior has been as good for Oscar as is made out?Originally Posted by CutMeMicK
10% is the usual trainer fee. $2 million isnt that much, Oscars purse must be $20 milllion+, god knows what he earn in total.Originally Posted by El Gamo

I agree with this. While Oscar obviously needs a trainer, it's not a huge deal who it is. Oscar's been fighting since he was a little kid, he's been a pro for 15 years, he's been in more big fights than anyone else out there. He's fought guys with just about every different type of style. He knows what he can do and can't do, he knows how to come up with a gameplan, how to do adjust within fights.Originally Posted by CutMeMicK
If Oscar wins or loses, it won't be because of his trainer.
10% in this situation is alot!! I think Oscar is making the right move,it will allow him to concentrate on the fight without family politics getting in the way.Originally Posted by Memphis
Good point but Floyd senior was talking as if he knew how to exploit Floyd's hand weakness in a way no one else would know. He hyped himself up,probably for the $$$> and it appears to have backfired.Originally Posted by SweetPea

It's not the usual trainer fee for fighters that are big stars. In those cases, it's always a flat fee, and always considerably less than $2 million. (they talk about this in that boxingtalk interview). Toward the end of the interview, Floyd Sr. is pretty clear that he's asking for a huge amount of money not only because he thinks he deserves in on Oscar's payday, but because he needs extra compensation before he'll agree to train someone to fight his son.Originally Posted by Memphis
I don't think Floyd Sr. had any expectation that ODH would be willing to pay him $2M and made that an essentially non-negotiable number because whatever bad blood there is between him and little Floyd, he really didn't want to do this. This gave him an out without coming out and saying that (though he implies just as much in that interview with all his talk about how he'd have to "live with it for the rest of [his] life").
Id say roach or Mosley SR then..
Roach has done very well with offensive fighters with power and skill, and thats exactly how Oscar will need to be in this fight;
I know little about Mosley SR, and as sum1 said, hes studied Oscar, found out his 'weaknesses' and assessed the best way to beat him and then done it with his son - could be interesting...
On a side note tho, HAHA mayweather SR! all this shit and now he gets nothing, No money and looks a complete tw@ for considering training a guy to whoop his own son, what a PRICK
I think it's just an act,I think he really believed that he would get the $$$,he knew it was a big chance to make big bucks and depp down,he's pissed about not getting his way which is why I have just read an interview where he is saying Oscar's size advantage isn't shit, only he can help Oscar to make the most of Floyd' weak hands etc so I think he was trying to persuade Oascar to choose him and failed.Originally Posted by shza
Not that I don't think Oscar can win, but if he has Mosley Sr. in his corner his chances have declined alot.

Yeah, it was about money. De La Hoya is greedy. I can see him sitting on a throne while Mosley fans him with a palm leaf. Hopkins is clipping Oscar's toenails and laughing along while De La Hoys says, "I share my money with no one, Floyd Sr." Floys Sr, is dragged away kicking and screaming by MAB and Morales.Originally Posted by albsur2006
