    Default Hatton-Harris

According to a link I read this morning (I will try to find it and post it) Hatton (if he beats Urango) may be lining up a fight with Vivian Harris as his first defence. How pointless is this ? Surely a fight with Witter would be much more interesting (even though I do not rate Witter one bit). Thoughts ?

I agree it would be pointless and this is what is going to start to piss me off in the long run. Hatton isn't going to start to take risk and therefore he will just stay at 140 and make his fights a bore fest! COME ON RICKY GET BACK TO 147!!!!!!!!

No theres still plenty of good matchups to be made at 140 and plenty better than Harris too. The opponent who seems most likely right now is Castillo but we'll see after saturday. Witter would be a good opponent and obviously a huge fight here in the uk but before that can happen Witter needs to impress the American audience because right now HBO have now interest in a Witter fight.

There may be some good match ups at 140..........but there is a lot better ones at 147 where Hatton's name will be rememberd better if he goes there!

Agreed and I wouldnt be surprised if Hatton does move back up in the future but theres just no need to rush it yet, win his title back and have a few more big fights at 140 first.

But would you class Harris as a big fight if thats his first defence ? I wouldent. Witter would be a lot better though Hatton will smash them both.

RICKY HATTON IS A 140LB FIGHTER! Forget 147lb, he fought there once as a last resort to keep HBO happy. He didnt want to and doesnt want to fight at 147lb. Why cant people accept it?

    Hope your wrong mate.

If he takes that fight I will lose a lot of respect for Ricky.

Hatton's next fight is Castillo providing they both come through on Saturday, probably June 2nd on HBO, thats common knowledge everywhere, HBO wants the fight, Hatton wants the fight and Castillo wants the fight and all camps claim thats the plan. Vivian Harris is fighting Juan Lazcano, for the right to be Junior Witter's mandatory if he beats Arturo Morua on Saturday.
As far as a Hatton v Harris match up goes, Vivian pulled out of the fight back in 04' when it was scheduled, now Harris needs Hatton he's been crying for a match up after Maussa knocked him the fuck out. He's still a very good fighter though.
Remember the good old days, we miss you Marco!

Hatton hasn't been linked with Harris for a couple of years. Harris is in line to fight Witter that might be what you have read.

I replied to your other post

Providing Hatton and Castillo win their respective fights

    Castillo is next

June 2nd at the Thomas & Mack Centre.

Already signed and sealed according to Mr. Arum

    On the TV this morning

before maussa ko'd harris the fight was set, hatton v harris, obviously maussa put a spanner in the works of it. hatton wont fight witter purely because witter aint in his class and obviously has made a carrer out of saying hatton has been ducking him when realy hatton has been seeking the bigger fights, hattons quoted as saying i dont need juniour witter he needs me, im trying to fight the best in the world out there all the time so if juniour wants to fight tell him to fight someone who'll get him noticed. if everything goes to plan this weekend whch it will with hatton and castillo both winning ther fight will be made for may obviously nothings signed but ive seen recent interviews with ray hatton, billy graham and ricky himself saying everyiong from the location to the purses have been agreed.

Why isnt he a 147 fighter? Well his preference may be at 140 but all of his competion has gone to 147. right look at it like this, if Hatton safely beat Luiz and looked comfortbale are you telling me he would give his belt up to get back to 140 and fight people who are not so good as the people at 147? ill asnwer that for you! no he wouldnt go back down. But what im saying is at the end of the day he beat Luiz and became the champion etc. It was early days imo for Hatton and i feel he could have stayed at 147 over time and progressed into a stronger fighter and gained more experience to keep up with his competition. So in reply to your question why isnt hatton a 147 fighter?

tam, hatton never had any intension of fighting his carrer out at 147, he wanted to be a 2 weight world champion which he acheived and then was being forced to fight oktay urkal who was his mando and a fight nobody would have paid to see, the 147 division now aint near as good as 140, pbf has moved up gatti has retired, judah looks finnished and soon the best 2 fighters in it will be facing ( margarito v cotto) this leveas the 6,1 paul williams to fight prob for a world belt up at 154 now against stinx. now at 140 we have hatton, castillo, corrales, witter, harris and the returning kostya tszyu this to me seems a better division at the momment the 147.
