    Default burning thighs

So I sparred for the first time last week (amazin experience, cant wait to do it again) and towards the end of the second round my thighs were seriously burning and felt really weak.
This is a really bad thing because I reckon if I got pushed I probably would have not been able to support my weight and would have fallen.

Anybody else experience this? how can I condition my thighs/quads better?

ull probly find thats ur adrenaline pumpin, with experience ull become far more confident. what u need to try and do is focus that adrenaline into fighting..

this is one of the reasons why boxing is all about fitness

also make sure u have plenty of water inside of u, muscles are mainly made up of water and so the more water u drink, the stronger ur muscles will be

n ye, i love sparrin too lol

The good news is if you're feeling it in you're legs it means you're using them... unlike a lot of people...

true, but it COULD also mean he's using them too much... ie, bent TOO much at the knees, crouching/staying too low unneccesarily.

youve got a point there Von, I never thought of it like that.....
I wasnt crouched very low but I dont think I once stood straight at the knees.

Is this a bad habit I should avoid OR condition my legs better and stick with it?

My trainer didnt mention anything wrong with my stance...

just condition your legs better, you should rarely if ever have straight/locked out knees.

If it was happening because you he was bending to much... trust me you'd know about it, you wouldn't be asking as about it and your trainer definetly would of spotted it.

Perfectly normal, nothing to worry about... just keep sparring, doing bag work, training your legs and getting your road work in...

It's the first time you've sparred and your body isn't used to it, REALLY fit lads in our gym who only do the conditioning for years and then try out sparring struggle physically the first time they do it...

Exactly what adam said..Its just good your moving in there..
I used to get it loads.. But in all fairness i think you'll prob just setlle into it..
Cos it means your excercising your legs..Now they ae stronger then they were before you sparred..
And just keep sparring and they'll keep getting stronger and you'll jus be gaining experiance and conditioning..
    Peace

Voodoo, one way that we condition our hips/thighs in Athletics is we have this wierd thing that we call "hip flexor" lol. Anyways, how you could mimick it is by getting two boject shoulder heighth or a little above, rest your elbows/forearms on top of them. You now should be elvated 4-6 inches above the ground. Now, you should QUICKLY bring your thighs up to your chest and SLOWLY let them down. We do 3 sets of 15. That's jsut a way to condition your thighs. Cya
